Tata-Fiat Palio Stile MJD Why Palio?
I loved the Palio since many years. It is one car that is rock solid. When I used to be a kid, my dad used to tell that Ambassadors are one of the strongest car. Nothing would happen to the car or the inmates in most of the accidents. The car always gets you home. Now, I see so many cars on streets.
Only the Palio, in the recent generations of cars can give the feeling of the Ambassador. I am one of them who believes that the only safety equipment needed on the Palio is the seat belt. When the Stile was launched with the National Diesel Engine (MJD), I was excited. I did not have the budget to get one home and the idea stayed in my wish list.
Booking Experience:
By the time, I decided I want a Palio, it was almost out of the market. I assumed Palios are no longer in production and started researching for Punto and other cars. Suddenly stumbled upon the
Dhamaka offer, already I was late into it and was like a lottery. If I am lucky, I get it. With very low expectations and high excitement, I booked. Trust me, if the Palio was available at its original price, I wouldn’t have given a second thought and would have still bought it. It all happened in a matter of few hours.
Next day, I told a few friends about my Palio booking, a friend who was looking to buy a diesel hatch in a few months, did not even think for a second and booked the MJD the next minute. Another passionate Fiatian who has a Petrol version of Palio too did not want to think twice and booked it too.
Prerana Motors A *Pre-Cared* Palio Story!
As I was getting married in the month of October. Along with my 118NE and Padmini S1 I wanted a Palio too for long drives. Then started my search for a *Pre-Cared* Palio MJD. I was pretty lucky to find a 2 yr old Stile owned by Mr. Acharya. I bought the Stile with the idea that I will sell it off if FIAT gives me a new Palio.
Pretty luckily I got a confirmation from Fiat in November that I would get the new Palio. I posted an ad in Suleka and was Purchased by Mr. Kollin.

When I called a few dealerships to enquire if Palio was available and about Dhamaka offer, some had no clue (Only later did I realize that the offer was limited to a small circle and wasn’t publicised). Then I thought let me call Prerana motors, Lalbagh road, one of the most reputed Fiat/Tata dealers and excellent feedback I have always heard from some family members with Fiat and Tata cars. They told it is available and asked us to come to the dealership.
Visited the dealership and walked to the Fiat section. Was greeted very very well by the staff offering cool drinks/chai coffee (was a little hot afternoon). As soon as I enquired about Palio, they asked me to have a seat and wait 2 minutes.
They passed us on to their Head of Sales Vijay R. He greeted us and asked us several questions. Like, why the Palio in specific? Do you know Palios are stopped? I can try to get you a Palio if really interested and so on. He literally understood us and our needs very very well and got to know that it’s the Palio that we are interested in and not the offer and we processed very quickly. This guy knows the Fiat cars in and out, keeps track of various automotive websites/magazines and knows most of the cars in competition too. He was very happy to know about Fiat 1100 Club - Bangalore of which I am the Founder.
It was an excellent experience working out the deal with Vijay. He is truly customer oriented. He also set us the CORRECT expectation that the car could take a minimum of 60 days and he will keep us up to date on whats happening. He did that for 5 full months. He never let us down at any point.
A special thanks to: The PUG forum, Team-Bhp and a few Fiat officials who have helped and been a medium to communicate in the last 5 months of our wait.
Thanks to FCB/NECB guys and Bhpians : Karthik M.B(Karthik1100), Sujith Thomas(Sujith1100), Arun Srinivasan(Arun1100), Chethan(GreenDay), Pavan Kadam, Yashik and Amith for all their support.

I am currently driving very carefully as its the run-in period. As I have read in many MJD threads, the engine opens up only after 10k kms. Palio is known for best in class handling and with MJD there is no tension of mileage. I just love the turbo kick and I found the kick very linear in Punto MJD. Planning for a long drive for the New Year!
What's great!!
--- Superb Build quality
--- Perfect Steering feel
--- Excellent high speed handling and cornering
--- Good Suspension and ground clearance
--- Not much of Cabin noise
--- Pedal positions and dead pedal is good
--- Not much of Electronics!
What worries me?
--- Stile is now a phased out model. Hope I won't have much trouble with body parts after few years.
