I too have been trying to get this upgrade but to no avail. Also i happen to be the second owner of a 8 month old thar, so the question is whether the standard warranty holds good for the second owner too.:Frustrati Also most of the mechanics at the dealership in my place feel I am nuts when I told them regarding up grading the thar brakes.
If a collective protest is raised Mahindra will be forced to act on this, braking power loss is a serious issue and a solution would be immediate improvement and recall of all Thars to the service centre for refitment of improved version.
A complaint must be made to the authority that Dhabar Behram keeps talking about CVRM or whatever. Results of the braking test will be rechecked and new recommendations of upggradation will be made if proper lobbying is done.

The Second owner is 100% entitled to standard warranty.
Thank you sir for this vital bit of information.
What happens when 31 inch tyres are installed in a Thar, does the gearing get tall and is there enough fender clearance during maximum articulation off road ?

There is enough torque in the engine to manage the 31" tyres, but, yes, the fender and flares will take a beating if we don't raise the suspension/body.
Folks
I just got myself this saturady, a pre-worshipped Thar CRDe V2. Done less than 300 kms so far. enjoying the ride.
Just 2 hours in the Thar, and i jsut dont feel like getting into my otehr car, the 'sedan class' vista.
There are a lot of squeaks and rattles there and there, some only one of which I could fix. will spend a better part of the next weekend for this i guess. the most annoying is the wind flapping sound that comes even at low speeds when the soft top touches the Roll Cage that the previous owner had installed. Any ideas?

I am currently running 31" Maxxis Bighorns and there are a couple of things to take care of:
- There is enough power to run with 31 or even 33 inchers, there wont be a big
- Though the tyres can be used on stock rims, the stock offset makes the tyres to touch on the inside during U-turns. This got solved after I put alloys with a little more negative offset, however the tyres are protruding out because of that and I will need to go for bigger fender flares.
- There are issues with the clearance with the front torsion bar I think, I have already worn out the bushes once and the technical supervisor at the ASC told me that I will need to do that frequently because of the raised height of the tyres. I was suggested that using poly bushes may solve the issue to some extent, but it will not eliminate it.
- I am thinking of raising the height by a couple of inches, but not sure if thats a good idea since it will change the driving dynamics.
Koncept Delhi was upgrading braking for all Thars under warranty. Just got in touch with them and sadly enough, this week onwards they have been instructed by Mahindra to stop doing that :Frustrati
Sterling Gurgaon mentions of some 'Stopper Bolt Kit' which could be done under warranty for the Thar. Can the gurus shed some light on what this might imply ? I dont think I understood what the ASC meant.
Approved service centre. Sterling Motors Service unit or similar approved units like RR Motors and Tiger Motors Gurgaon which have come up recently. I dont know how maybe Sterling Motors has shared numbers with them and I keep getting bugging calls to come there and avail a 10 % discount.
After dreaming of owning one for more than a decade and waiting for a month for delivery, I finally got my Thar.
Everyone here has been immensely helpful and patient enough to answer all my questions, some of which weren't asked for the first time. Thank you'll for that. :)

Hi All,
My friend is looking out for a secondhand Thar. My query is- Can the immobiliser be fitted on the 2011 Thar without issues? Or will it create more problems than it can solve?
Regards,
Varun

Technically it is possible, however it calls for extensive re-engineering and is neither worth the cost nor the effort!
