Re: Mahindra Thar - my initial ownership report

Congratulations on the Thar. I've been waiting to hear some user reviews on the same.
Could you tell us any of your experiences with off road driving if you've done some.
Cheers

Re: Mahindra Thar - my initial ownership report

I will agree with some that this review is putting me off the Thar. quite a bit. you can get a 100bhp polo for that kind of money, i know its like comparing apples and oranges but german quality vs [honestly don't know what to call it]. Small irritating sounds, niggles, hanging wires, stuck horns will drive me nuts.

Having driven german for the last 5yrs, I think I need to walk away from this one. Eagerly watching out for v2 though, if there is ever one. Hopefully, this 'niche' slapped together piece of metal produced by what seems to be Mahindra's experimental and 'as cheap/ basic as you can get away with' 4x4 department, will sell in sufficient enough numbers so that the wise ones at the top don't pull the plug on this product all-together. Something tells me this won't happen as there are plenty of heart-ruled people like us out there who will happily cough up the required money to get an indigenous vehicle that 'resembles' the Jeep.

I have seen a few very well built jeeps at Bangalore too by a few garages but for a brand new Thar, I would recommend anyone other than these 2 "Gods of the Jeep."

Re: Mahindra Thar - my initial ownership report

Greetings Tha'Red.

Congratulations for being a Thar owner
I read your ownership report. There are quite a few niggles common to both our vehicles. I just hope they are ironed out very soon.
Niggles apart, I love my ride and am sure you are a proud owner too. Please do keep me up to date as to your experience with the vehicle as I am sure exchanging ideas will benefit one and all on this forum
Happy motoring and looking at the positive side, let us enjoy what the Thar has to offer us.

Regards.

@Janjua - yes i do love the machine and its drive. will continue to post on the thread as and when there is something worth sharing.

@narayanang76 - yes I work in ECity and park in the MLPL if that is the parking you are referring to:-).

ALL: can someone please tell me about sources for good seats for the Thar, in Bangalore. I want to explore if there are front seats with better Lumbar support. thanks in advance,

Re: Mahindra Thar - my initial ownership report

It's very surprising to see the kind of response this thread is generating inspite of the loooooonnnnggg list of problems listed out by Thar'ed.

It's a brand new vehicle and that list doesn't do justice to a new vehicle.

And I find the comments like the one's - better the problems have cropped up now so that the A.S.S will be extra co-operative and all that jazz - hilarious and silly.

Congrats on the THAR, Thar'ed. Hope it serves you well.

Re: Mahindra Thar - my initial ownership report

Congrats on the Thar! It's my favourite brand new Jeep Sucks on the niggles, but it shouldn't be too difficult to sort them out. Mechanically, the Thar should prove itself as very robust, just as the Scorpio it is based on.

Would love to see pictures of your Red Beast. And about the seats, any upholstery specialist should be able to give you what you want (Sample recommendation from the Team-BHP Directory).

Congrats again and drive safe.

Re: Mahindra Thar - my initial ownership report

Congrats Tha'Red. I'm shocked to see the huge list of issues that you have pointed out on a brand new vehicle and at the same time surprised at the way how you are dealing with them maturely without throwing tantrums. Hope the issues are sorted out soon. Good luck.

All said, I fail to understand the general perception that these are minor niggles and can be taken care of. I mean, if someone had bought a used Jeep that has seen some tough times on and off road I can understand. A Jeep coming out of the assembly line like this?

That is a genuine, honest & unbiased report.

^^ Could you please clarify which regions are you referring to?

I hope all our inputs help Mahindra and team improve the product.
Yes, all genuine feedback's (good / bad) intended for the betterment of the product are taken in good sense.

Leaving aside the Compressor, nothing else will "fit properly"

I know of a few problem regions, "everywhere" seems surprising!
