Re: Bandipur & Kabini over weekends : Photologue

@robinmahanta: I don't know how I missed seeing this photologue. Went over the pictures again and again. Awesome bird shots, especially that of the Hoopoe & the close-up of the Eagle.

That is some gear you have besides the loaned 500mm.

You were lucky to get the Leopard twice. 95% don't even get to see the tail even....

I was wondering why nobody has rate this thread till now. I've...

Thanks..once you get used to it, handling it is not much of an issue. Just that you need a good bean bag for support.

Specially the closeup snap of eagle and the elephant facing the camera, simply too good.

Seeing all these snaps you feel like getting a good SLR and just go out for a trip to shoot.

Cheers.
Thanks. Go for it..a DSLR definitely opens up endless photo opportunities

The alert Mongoose! It was too close to our safari jeep, hence couldn't get a full frame

Re: Bandipur & Kabini over weekends : Photologue

During a photography workshop, the instructor kept reminding us the actual effectiveness of a DSLR is only when you can 'compose' an image. Now I can understand what he meant!

Extra ordinary pictures robi! And some pro-level kit as well! Having had an SLR for a little over a year now and indulging in some photography, this thread has given me the much needed push to go for a good tele lens!

Rating it a well deserved 5 stars!

Re: Bandipur & Kabini over weekends : Photologue

@Robinmahanta

Is it possible to get jeep safari at Kabini even if you are not staying at one of the resorts???

I am asking this, because at Nagarhole and Bandipur, you can only get a jeep safari as part of the package while staying at JLR etc

Well I've never tried it as I always stay over atleast for a couple of nights (almost always at JLR)...but I've met a few guys in Bandipur doing the afternoon safari ( on a JLR jeep) without staying over. But these guys were regulars and had good rapport with the JLR staff.

I second that whole heartedly.
It is beautifully framed and frozen, a perfect text book on 'birds in flight' shot.
