Re: Bandipur & Kabini over weekends : Photologue

Robi,
Wonderful job with photography. I guess 500mm prime lens and ID do good job together. The background is beautifully blurred with this lens. But such lens I guess is only available with pros as fast zooms are beyond the reach of amateur usually and serve single purpose like photojournalism and wildlife and sports photography. Right? but anyway I think you took a pro body with a pro lens for the trip. And again its the brain behind the camera to which the credit should go as camera cant compose and shoot by itself.

@robimahanta: Brilliant snaps man! Its very sharp for a handheld shot. I bought a DSLR a long time back mainly for landscape and wildlife photography, though went on many landscape outings never went for a wildlife photography session.

Hope to go out on one soon and even if i get half as good pics as you i'll be very happy! The best time for wildlife spotting is during April-June months right ? Just before the monsoons arrive

Bumping an old thread of mine!
Just got back from another weekend trip to Kabini. Kabini never ceases to amaze me as whatever the season, sightings are almost guaranteed.
Some of the better images from the trip!

Got this peacock way up on a tree

Why is it that the Leopard stands & poses for you, inspite on being such a shy animal? I've always had a fleeting glance. Some people have all the luck. Peacock pic is simply beautiful.

p.s. I liked the signature - (what typewriter......)

Hey man you were able to sight almost all the animals in the jungle. Now that's called 'luck by chance'. The leopard looking straight in the eye is the pic of the lot. Great crystal clear images, superb camera work since the light can affect your picture quality in such places. Overall Amazing photologue.

Re: Bandipur & Kabini over weekends : Photologue

Hi Robi. Amazing pictures. Kabini never dissapoints anybody. I second what GD Sir said in one of the above posts that the Leopard always poses for you so elegantly. Has it been raining when you visited because it started raining the day i was there.

Sorry to hijack your thread. I too have a couple of snaps of my previous trip to Kabini. Please bear wiith me as i am sharing the snaps on your thread. The week of June 11th was full of Tiger and Leopard sightings at Kabini.

I was at Kabini (JLR property) on the 17th of June. Was lucky to spot a Tiger (male aged around 4 years old as per the naturalist who was with us) during the evening safari.

Guys please bear with the snaps as i know nothing about Photography and there was very little time to photograph the Tiger as it was walking away from us the moment we stopped the Jeep. Before it started walking away it was sitting right beside the road in the thickets to cross the road.

Yes Nilanjan, most of the images were with the 500mm. The leopard was around 60ft away. The one amidst the shrubs was around maybe 100ft away.
