You more or less maintained your times with clockwork precision. Changes in the itinerary are always there in such trips because of events not in your control. Appreciate your detailed log.

We were also at Surabhi at 9:20AM sharp. If you spotted two puntos in front of the hotel with TBHP stickers, those were our cars. Which was your ride? I'll check in my photos of the parking area if we were actually there together.

Yes, some uncontrollable events made us miss Moodabidri.
Overall I'm happy that we almost went as planned.

I meant while returning! Your time of 18:30 @ Sakaleshpura matches to mine. Where you also stopped at Surabhi while coming back?

My onward journey was via Shimoga!

Yes, we left the hall by 1:30 PM and left manipal at 2:15PM. Please PM your name, UB and N were wondering which other TBHPian they have in their friends group.

While coming back, we stopped at OSSOR and not Surabhi.
During our onward journey, the breakfast (Chutney in specific) was horrible in surabhi which is is why we didbn't stop there while coming back.

Re: UB's Wedding : A 3 day, 3 car trip to Manipal / Udupi

Since thursday, i had been to one more wedding and one more trip to Hampi.
Hence the delay in updating the thread.

Continuing further...

After the first day, we were short of sleep..This delayed our 2nd day plans

We got up at 7:00 and left the lodge at 8:00.

All the three cars were ready to go.

The two Italian girls,

And the Japaneese beauty

One photo for the whacky modifications thread
UB's Wedding : A 3 day, 3 car trip to Manipal / Udupi-dsc_8577.jpg

We headed to the Udupi shri krishna temple..No photographs were allowed.
After an hour of temple visit, our tummies got up and took us straight to Woodlands restaurant just beside the temple.
VK had already developed a liking for Masala dosa and we had a nice breakfast.

After our tummies were happy, we went straight to the Malpe beach.

Malpe Beach

Father of our nation left alone in the hot sun

We then hopped onto a boat which took us to the St. Mary's Island.
Protecting the camera from the waves hitting our boat was a challenge. My wiffe's dupatta came to our rescue here.

It was exactly noon by the time we landed on the Island.
The Island didn't live upto my expectations.
The Island is littered with Plastic everywhere and I got one more proof than we Indians are not good at maintaining our beautiful country
But still, It was a beautiful Island where the beach is full of shells instead of sand.
The Stone formation also amazed me and my camera got some work there.

Sea-Piercing stone Formations

Some of the shells we picked up

MCR had visited St. Mary's Island many times. So he headed to another Temple in Ambalpady when we were on the island.

After we came back from the Island, the cars caught up with each other and we headed for Lunch.
We went to Woodlands restaurant again since we needed a good Vegetarian restaurant and it had impressed us.

After Lunch we drove towards Mravante and Murudeshwara.
The traffic was too much. Added to this was the 4-laning activity.

This slowed us down too much and by the time we reached maravante, It was 5:00pm
We spent some time clicking pictures

Beautiful setting with a river and sea on either sides of my Italian beauty

The waves caressing the stones were just beautiful

After that, we drove to Murudeshwara.

On the move shots

We reached Murudeshwara by around 06:15pm. There was some felicitation programme for RNShetty and it was a bit crowded than usual. But we could see the god without much trouble.

I went clicking aroung the temple.

But for the second consecutive day, the sun seemed to be angry with us. Slowly he drwned in the sea under cloud cover.

We headed back to manipal by 7:30pm.

Again the traffic slowed us down and we took 90 minutes to reach Manipal.

After dinner at Domino's, UB got Nostalgic.
He took us around manipal. We went to "End point", "Greens" etc... till the police came around and drove us into our beds

That was one eventful day I must say.

The final day will come up soon...

Thankyou.

Luckily it didn't rain...The forecast that we had seen proved to be wrong.
We were lucky.

But the heat was such that the sweat of our bodies was nothing less than the rains

Do you have more pics of the ghat section. This trail has some beautiful landscapes.

I did mangalore->Bangalore this tuesday by train. The stretch between Kukke Subramania and Sakleshpur was simply amazing. Will post the pics soon.

Meanwhile here is the same stretch i did last year during monsoon.

Re: UB's Wedding : A 3 day, 3 car trip to Manipal / Udupi

Now for the D-day...The day UB was about to loose his Bachelor's degree and the day N would gain her Master's

Because of UB's nostalgic tour around manipal, we all had gone to bed at around 2 in the night(or rather morning)

But somehow I was not happy with the photographs I had got till then.
I pushed my wife to get up early and with some difficulty, we both got up at 5:45. We left our rooms at 6am and we headed to Malpe beach...just the both of us.

I asked my GPS gal to take me there and wow she did take me in the most interior roads possible and we entered the beach from the fishery godown side avoiding the parking fee at the entrance though we could not avoid the smell of fish all over the place.

With some nice shots, I left the beach and on my way I stopped beside a backwater canal and I got some nice wing friends giving me poses

We met just at the junction of Dharmastala road for icecreams at around 5:00PM

The next stop was at sakleshpura for a snack/dinner at aound 6:00pm

After scaring the **** out of VK (I have put stars myself )
we reached my home at 23:45

UB's Wedding : A 3 day, 3 car trip to Manipal / Udupi-160520111049.jpg
A wonderful drive coming to an end

A total of 1194kms.
I got a fuel efficiency of ~12kmpl with 100% AC and some spirited drive in the ghats.
MCR got around ~19kmpl
the swift ZXi gave ~13.5 kmpl

This was one memorable drive I must say...
