Re: Adventure in Kipling Country - Kanha National Park

Being at Baghira has its own advantage. Totally disconnected from rest of the world, as were inside the jungle. From the room itself, we were hearing lots of sounds like, Chittal, sambhar calls. Two meters from the room the meadows starts, so we used to get sounds of insects moving inside the layers of dry leafs etc. It was a superb experience at Baghira log huts. One of the biggest advantage staying at Baghira is that you do not need to qued up at the gate for entry (Khatia Gate). Your guide and driver will enter and come to the resort and pick you up but you won't be allowed to enter first at Kisli gate till the first vehicle from Khatia gate entered. Spending a moment at Kisli gate itself is a wondeful experience.

We had our dinner and retire for the day. Today we are at our sixth drive and we were suppose to go to Mukki Zone. As usual Satish came on time and we started for Mukki zone expedition. My mother and little one stayed at the resort, me my wife and sakshi went for the morning drive.

Thanks! I liked the food. I did not expect luxury. It was too hot and that to AC was not working properly and water problem. Actually, i wanted to switch off the fan to hear wilderness. It could have possible with a low noise AC. The amount of money this guys are charging are quite high compared to the service.

All said and done. The wilderness experience at Baghira is unquestionable.

Great picture of the Mukki tiger. Also liked the ones of the Barasinghas and the jungle cat. The Barasinghas remind me of tall leggy models...

Re: Adventure in Kipling Country - Kanha National Park

Kanha zone has a full fledged centre point (recreation point), where people can have their breakfast, tea and all. But Mukki zone does not have a full fledged tea centre but there is a small place where gypsies gathered around and report to attend tiger show. Around 8.30 a.m. we reached after scanning through the entire Mukki zone for the king but nothing. The beautiful meadows of kanha stole my heart.

Finally, we reached at Centre point of Mukki zone and reported for tiger show. Our number was 15 and still things were not clear about tiger show. After 10 minutes it was clear that tiger show will be there. We waited for 45 minutes and finally our turn came.

Kanha forest department manage the tiger show very well not like Bandhavgarh. When your turn comes, you are being asked to rushed to the tiger show location, so that place is not overcrowded.

We reached and their our's was second number. Immediately, wireless message came that tiger is moving so, stop sending tourist for tiger show. Ranger said, sorry "aap ka naseeb mein kharab hai' (Bad luck). Then he talked to the elephant guys at tiger sighting point and as our receipt was being issued, the ranger wanted to avoid the refund formalities. He requested the mahauts to hold on for some time and show the last tourist to avoid these refund complications. And we were lucky enough.

On the way to reach tiger sighting point, i requested the mahaut for good tiger sightings and look for good angle. He understood and cooperated me. Thanks to that guy, it was a 25 minutes photoshoot. Best so far. The tiger was inside the lantana otherwise it would have been a grand photofeast. Here whatever i could capture........

Re: Adventure in Kipling Country - Kanha National Park

Super pics!! We didn't get the permit for Mukki zone. And I didn't know you were on India Nature Watch, I came to know very recently.

What are the approx charges for Baghira log huts? Is it too costly? We wanted to stop there and ask, but when we were in Kanha, there was some M.P staying there. Hence for one day all forest guards were put on 'special duty' !!

Re: Adventure in Kipling Country - Kanha National Park

Thank you Sir. I had eight safari, so booked in advance for one morning round in Mukki.

During my stay, some VIP had come and they were partying outside the restaurant and an Innova plying between Baghira and the Khatia gate many times in the night.

Baghira charge is 5290 double occupancy on AP basis.

R u in INW, if yes, what's your ID.
