| Re: Civved : Poovar Trip 4 - 4th May 2011 to 8th May 2011 After the beautiful days at Poovar in October, we fulilled the promise by returning back in May 2011. Poovar had a different beauty this time. The estuary was not open to the sea this time. We could walk across both Poovar and Pozhiyoor beaches. It had another charm. Day 01, 4th May 2011 Bangalore - Kanyakumari - Poovar This time since we started on a weekday, we had to take care of our official committments late the previous day, and had to catch a good nights sleep. So we started only by 04:00AM from Bangalore. Given the previous experiences of reaching Kanyakumari in 8 hours, it was anticipated to be 9 hours to Poovar, and reach the resort for lunch. Civvy ready to go. Bangalore is cool at 22 degrees at 04:00AM.  Eaxctly at 12:00PM we are at Kanyakumari. This included a 1 hour breakfast break at Salem. The last leg of NH7 is also done, so zoomed all the way to Kanyakumari and decided to have lunch there and hit Poovar afterwards.  It was 670Km from Bangalore. 34 degrees  , 12 degree change from Bangalore. Considering the breakfast break, it took us 7 hours of driving from Bangalore to reach Kanyakumari. After lunch we drove towards Poovar. We saw these poor ducklings.  We finally reached Poovar Island Resort by 14:30PM. We parked the car, ane waited for the boat to pick us up. Some pictures from the boat jetty on mainland. A boatman  PPGs waiting for the boat  Some boats docked  Poovar back waters  The resort boat had picked us up and the boatman was happy to see us again. Going towards the resort  Entrance of another resort  We reached the reception by 15:30. This time we booked a 2 bedroom cottage for the stay. Immediately it was allotted. PPGs took this Buddha picture from the reception.  While we checked in wifey was roaming around the resort. PPGs took her picture from the cottage  Just relaxed the entire evening by having a lazy long dinner from 19:00PM to 23:00PM, and retired for the night. |

This time too I woke up by noon only A well deserved rest from the daily chores of life, a definite welcome. I woke up to find wifey reading, and felt great for her too.Wifey reading  That moment is etched in my mind forever  Unlike us, PPGs got bored of too much rest and they had gone outside the cottage. After a while we both went in search of the PPGs. This one day will become a good coconut  Found PPGs checking the tree, which was of their height  Then we went to the yoga center   Wifey enjoying the view of the river and trying to capture some pictures  A boat on the river. You can sea the sea too.  The River, The Beach, The Waves, The Sea, The Sky  The estuary is not conected to the sea unlike last visit  A couple walking on the beach   Looks like an elephant cooling in water  Local kids enjoying and some tourists look on. You can see the river, the beach and the sea.  Some umbrellas, lots of boats, the place is buzzing with visitors.  We all sat in the yoga center and enjoyed the free time immensely. continued... | Re: Civved : Poovar Day 02, 5th May 2011 Poovar Jr. PPG somehow was getting bored with the amount of time at her disposal.  I looked around and saw a lot of coconut trees  It had coconuts too  I remembered my childhood, when I used to idle around my granny and how she used to make me happy with the simple toys she made out of coconut leaves. I miss her very much, she passed away almost 20 years ago. I made some toys which she taught me, and Jr. PPG was very happy with them. I was feeling very happy too. Jr. PPG with her new spectacle  The Toy Fan (Kattadi, Phirki...)  Jr. PPG was very happy with her fan  See the varying expressions in Jr. PPGs face with the speed of the fan     Sr. PPG joins in with her fan too  Meanwhile I made another toy, which makes tak tak sound when you rotate and Jr. PPG was amazed too.  We spent a lot of time there. PPGs listened to the stories from my childhood, mostly acquired from my granny and every one was happy. I never can forget this day when we all spent lot of quality time together. Boat on the river  Rule of thirds could not be applied  The floating cottages were operational this time  PPGs settle down  Me in search of a rock  Its a bliss wetting your legs in cool water with a nice breeze to compliment  Our favourite view point and shade  Coconut trees all around  Jr. PPG taking a nap  A boatman approaches me for a trip. Planned one for the next day. This day we are too relaxed   A lot of fishes - Where did these fellows go last time when we tried to fish?    By 14:00PM we wound up the lazy roaming and decided to hit the pool and get some snacks in the pool than an elaborate lunch. continued... |

| Re: Civved : Poovar Day 02, 5th May 2011 Poovar The boat takes us to the floating restaurant  PPGs at the floating restaurant  PPGs researching the menu  Tiger Prawns Masala  Pomfret Fry  The fish was fresh, but left a lot to be desired in the taste and presentation. But the feel was good. Cost would remind you of a proper resort at Goa though .By 22:00PM we finished with dinner and were dropped at the resort. Wonderful day, completely relaxed hit the bed, telling to myself to wake up early the next day. |

| Re: Civved : Poovar Day 03, 6th May 2011 Poovar Woke up quite early this day. Wifey went for her yoga session, and I just strolled around the resort enjoying the beauty and the solitude. Getting time for oneself to introspect is a rarity these days. But having just that kind of time, I went into a long loop and web of thoughts. Many choices, many decisions, many successes, many failures, all started to get some meaning. Felt a lot relaxed, came back to the room, picked up the camera and tried more experiments with it. Wish I was good with the pictures and had some great skills at photography. If wishes were horses... Whatever worth the pictures are, it atleast serves the purpose to freeze the great times we had, atleast for my growing up PPGs to look back. After collecting the camera, went to my favourite viewing spot near the corner of the resort. Sat there for almost three hours till 11:00AM. Life goes on Fishermen starting their day    Stephens Floating Restaurant  The boy at the restaurant starts his day  Boat on the shore  The Sky, The Sea, the Beach, The River  A couple enjoying the boat ride  Our friendly boat man  The floating cottages    continued... |

While getting back to the room took some pictures of random flowers from the resort.         The Mango trees gives a good shade to catch some rest.  We were in the pool till 14:30PM and went for a late lunch. After lunch we relaxed till 17:00PM in our cottage. Another very lazy day Later we went for a speed boat ride to the mangroves by 17:30PM. continued... |
