@Paco - That sure is one of the longest TL i have read in one go. It sure was a treacherous trip that you had undertaken with a kid in tow. Would have loved to see the snaps on the TL itself, as the blog site does not open for me in office.

What an experience! What a write-up. Sans the weather & conditions it was like I was following you throught. Brilliant thinking to include local cuisine info. for that's one of the joys of travelling.

I am getting ready my family and possibly one more friend's to travel next year and I am in the same situation you ended up in: single driver and what more: my ride is the Endeavour 4x4 too. So, I'll be taking much of my planning inputs from this thread. I only wish I had extensive and may I say powerful contacts like you

Congrats again for making it to the top. I'm sure the urge to go there again will resurface at some point.

Paco: I know it is almost 2 years since you keyed down your trip. I stumbled upon this thread when i was searching for something on the Endeavour on T-Bhp.

Sitting in China (Guangzhou) and with nothing much to do at this hour, i read your travelogue in one-go. You have a great way of describing things. You had a great trip and thanks for sharing it here.

I have been dreaming to drive my Endy to Leh and back, but right now, i just don't get the time to even drive my Endy in Chennai.

As i own an Endy (White, 4 x 4 AT, same spec as your Xena), I obviously have a couple of questions about your Xena's performance.

a. You had mentioned that the "electronics" light was glowing when you drove your Xena over 16000 ft in altitude. At this height, did the Endeavour get into "limp-home-mode" or did it continue to perform as usual?

b. As the AT gear box in the Endy does not offer any engine braking in any of the lower gears (except in the top gear >85 kmph), did you feel that you were straining the brakes (which are quite weak by Sedan standards) while driving down descents.

Do keep us posted on your "promised" trip by Air to Srinagar.
