10 day, 3200 kms business trip in a Suzuki Swift in Gujarat

Just returned from a ten days 3200 kms business trip in a Suzuki Swift in Gujarat. Pure driving awesomeness I must say! Driving such long distances in India was an experience in itself.

Summarizing the trip briefly -

- Route taken: Vadodara - Ahmedabad - Surendernagar - Rajkot - Jamnagar - Porbandar - Junagadh - Diu - Amreli - Bhavnagar - Ahmedabad (One day in each district)

- Saw some exotics in Ahmedabad; a Maserati, few S Class, Cayennes, an M3 and other Beemers; also some nicely modded Swifts and Lineas etc.

- Was my 1st time in Gujarat, so the excitement expectedly high

- Would like to share a few pics (didn't take my camera along, therefore some cellphone pics only)

Any clue what on earth is this?

Nice contraption. Looks like they have converted an Enfield Bullet into a Tractor or a Tiller.

Why didn't you take the Civic on this trip?

It is a mix n match! The guy used Enfield's body + a boat's engine block + parts from a small tractor to come up with this DIY tiller!

Two reasons -

1. I flew from Delhi to Vadodara and hired the car from Gujarat only. At the end of the trip, I flew back from Ahmedabad to Delhi.

2. Had it been a Civic (or any petrol car for that matter), the fuel costs would have been much higher! In Swift, I put in about INR 7500 worth of diesel for the whole trip.

I read this in your ownership report Ace and was wondering when the mods would spin it off! Nice post.

Can you share how much you paid to rent the Swift D and which agency you did it from? Presumably this was a self-drive.

The pics are indeed beautiful. I had done my sales internship stint in Gujarat and have visited a lot of these places, including Junagadh which I remember as very picturesque. PLease post more pics, including those of your ride.

Haah... Just got to know about this thread as I was wondering what happened to these pics I had posted in my Civic thread. Sorry for the laaaaate reply.

Noops, I paid INR 22,000 in total to the Renting Agency. I need to find details about the agency from my corporation as I was on a business trip there and they made the arrangements for me. Yes, the car was self driven though I was given an option for having a driver as well. Gujarat experience was awesome indeed as 3 of my friend circle's IAS/IPS officers are posted in GJ. Felt glad to meet all of them after a long time and we had some re-union and partying.

Trying to find out more pics in my Camera MMC but not able to trace them out. Did I format the card in between!?!

I have also been to Far East (Assam and Arunachal Pradesh) after that GJ trip. Will take care from next time to click some extra pics for TBHP travelouges.
