OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! Amazing pics !! Lovely & rated 5 stars ! Couple of pics are marvelous. Especially the one with a tree shadow & the one - "Focus war" ! Could you post the pic they were trying to shoot with so much pain ? And I have to say, this is a place which will serve all with fresh air & a lot of peace of mind.

Truly magnificent!! Excellent pictures complement the quality narrative.

Just curious to know whether your boss was satisfied

If by chance he is not, show him the pics and tell him to take a day off for the same expedition

- he saw through many decades, accompanied by hardships and neglect, mind & body hardened by the struggles. now his eyes brood with contempt..even our lens didn't have the courage to look into his eyes directly.

This was just great. Even R K Narayan would have been proud off this line.

Re: In Search of the Haunted Bungalow at Bonacaud, Trivandrum

Mystical Words, Mystical Photographs and a truly Mystical Place. Apt that we are seeing through MysticEyes. I frequented Trivandrum and rode through Padmanabhapuram - Nedumangad & also between Nedumangad - Shencottah many times in early 90s. Regret that I haven't explored these parts.

Flowing Prose and Glowing Photographs effortlessly lifted us to Bonacaud. I guess we will feel familiar with the tea shop & the remaining workers there. Well deserved Five Stars!

Now I'm searching other threads by MysicEyes!

Glad you liked the place being the lazy bone I'm, I never tend to write much

Nedumangad - Shencottah road or the Trivandrum - Shencottah (TS) road is one of my favorite roads and I travel frequently on the route. Drove through part of the route from Thenmala to Shencottah, back in July for covering the erstwhile Punalur-Shencottah meter-gauge route (covering remaining stations and places around the line)

here is the 'tea shop'
In Search of the Haunted Bungalow at Bonacaud, Trivandrum-dsc05542.jpg

the shop owner. it was he who ticked us off for this wonderful trip. one question, many answers..as we bid farewell to him, a question came up in our mind - how would be his life? answers lay all around him - on the broken walls, on the half-empty shelf and in his eyes..

and this is why I love the TS road

Mysticeyes,

This is a fabulous write-up. Surprising that it is so close to the city and few know about it! Do they allow picnic in such areas?

Your photos are amazing.

Re: In Search of the Haunted Bungalow at Bonacaud, Trivandrum

Amazing thread , loved the serenity & the way you have written the whole trip. Somehow i feel one should oftenly take a break from the daily viscious circle of job/ profession & go for such places. I so much wish i could visit trivandrum, problem being that its way too far from my place & nobody would give me a weak off.

Re: In Search of the Haunted Bungalow at Bonacaud, Trivandrum

Your photos and narration are a treat. It is nice to see nature reclaiming the land which was used by man for some time. Let us call it the benefits of labour strife, which I presume is the root cause of the ruin of the estate and its return to nature.

Planning a trip there as soon as possible.

Re: In Search of the Haunted Bungalow at Bonacaud, Trivandrum

Hi Mysticeyes,
Again ! An excellent write up and snaps. Love/d the pictures. Never knew of this place - so close to Trivandrum.
So what is the exact spelling of the place ? The post office board seems to have a very Anglicised name on it...Bonnacord or something ?
Next time in Trivandrum will try and do this place.
Thanks for sharing !
