Will look forward to it eagerly. By the way, thanks for your help with my Rajasthan trip. I don't know if you remember my PM about Kumbhalgarh and your reply. You were absolutely spot on about the route.

All my bags are packed - I'm ready to go!
Baby'sDaysOut - Daksh goes to Gwalior & Orchha-1.-all-my-bags-packed-im-ready-go.jpg

1st attraction in Gwalior - the very nice but unlabelled Jai Vilas palace. I was quite excited as you can see in my face!
Baby'sDaysOut - Daksh goes to Gwalior & Orchha-2.-outside-jaivilas-palace.jpg

At Tansen ka Makbara - boring unmaintained place (ASI has fled) that has become a general park!
Baby'sDaysOut - Daksh goes to Gwalior & Orchha-3.-tansen-ka-makbara.jpg

And next day - I was all set to conquer Gwaliorrr fort!!Baby'sDaysOut - Daksh goes to Gwalior & Orchha-4.-day-2-all-set-gwalior-fort.jpg

Me freaking out at the Betwa resort - what gardens!
Baby'sDaysOut - Daksh goes to Gwalior & Orchha-5.-reached-betwa-resort-yay.jpg

Chillaxing with mom at the Betwa next day!
Baby'sDaysOut - Daksh goes to Gwalior & Orchha-6.-sleeping-like-log-betwa.jpg

Checking out the Raj mahal orchha!
Baby'sDaysOut - Daksh goes to Gwalior & Orchha-7.-raj-mahal-orchha.jpg

Exploring jahangir mahal

Playing my little bit before the journey back home
Baby'sDaysOut - Daksh goes to Gwalior & Orchha-9.-all-set-return-home.jpg

The river sanctuary where we saw gharials - how stupid - we paid money to see what we can see easily on Discovery Channel!!

Day 1 SLR snaps!

So here are the other pics of day 1:

BMW Isetta - would've seriously been a curiosity in the era of BIG awesome cars!

The famed condiment train:

Sorry i didn't reply to this earlier - courtesy Airtel's FriendsFirst network! I do remember your query and infact read through your log as well - you're welcome!

I completely disagree on the Orchha not being a dirty town bit. Orchha is by far the crappiest historical place i've seen - a 8 year old girl was doing potty bang in front of the fort gate.

Everywhere you go near the river betwa in the main parts - there's a total profusion of human faeces. The denizens of Orchha have screwed the Betwa river banks - it needs to flood the banks around orchha!

The chattris and the fort were clean though and the water near the chattris was slightly better - though we had to go into the village to find a potty less spot to venture into the river at!!

Thanks man. Nope - the 2nd set of pics is from the DSLR. Phones cannot take low light snaps during the light & sound show

The idea was to take photos from the phone, and have a running triplog courtesy the TBHP App. the problem was twofold - Airtel's completely pathetic EDGE coverage and the TBHP app's complete refusal to attach the images.

But a bulk of photos were still taken with the phone out of sheer laziness

I love his expressions in all the photos! There was a syndicated comic strip called Henry that used to be published on the first or last page of Indrajal comics. Daksh looks like Henry

Henry (comic strip) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cheers,
Vikram

We've been driven into too much worry about his "1st winter" that we're playing it a bit chilled out till summer comes (and he'll be closer to an year as well). Though otherwise, he's shown no problems with the delhi weather so far!!

Daddy cool!!! Daksh is enjoying every bit of the trip and nice to see you taking him out which many dare not do at his age. The Gwalior pictures - sound and light show - has come out really good. The museum though is such is disaappointment. Badly maintained. Except for the durbar hall, the chandelier and silver train, it is a damp squib.

yeah - he does not mind anything as long as he gets milk on demand

The light & sound pics are good because they are from dSLR - the 1st set is from the phone and processed via irfanview (i.e butchered).

The museum is practically like all of mr scindia's effects - don't evoke the same awe/cool as much as looking at a typical rajasthan fort's antique collection!
