WOW...I too am into cycling, though not as extensively as you do, but I can definitely add a point in my long term plans 'to do list'.
Your plan of riding into your 90's reminds me of an adage - 'You don't stop riding because you've grown old, but you grow old because you've stopped riding'
Keep thumping!!!!

This is an awesome write up!
Your last post sums up those stray thoughts that one gets while riding solo perfectly. Really well written.

My problem is that the thoughts become too overbearing sometimes and take away a lot of concentration from the road. So I stop every now and then, reflect on the thoughts, and then move on again.

And Shillong I have heard from my Army buds about the beauty [largely unaffected by civilization] of this place.
Time to buy a Bull I guess!

Wow, excellent ride and loved the ramblings on your solo ride back. Funnily mind says a lot of things when one is left alone with self.

Also, recognized a couple of folks you rode with, so good to see the familiar friendly faces . A well deserved 5 star rated thread.

Hi
Neat write up. The part where you were riding alone
and rambling is awesome. I am from Madbulls and sort of went through the same experience. Will post it later today. With so many people in the venue i dont think i met you guys. 10 of our guys came back riding and i am sure they passed through hyderabad. Bad luck you guys could not meet before during the event or you guys could have ridden together. Happy thumping. Cheers

Coincidentally Dodo and I are classmates. Under graduation.

Did not realize then that a couple of years later we would both end up meeting each other at an RM.

Yes, an open road does that. Something that I have had the opportunity to experience recently.

That is why biking is such a powerful healer. No matter how the ride started, at the end of the ride, you will be at peace with yourself and the world at large.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for a great Travelogue, bblost. Loved the journey and the narration.

And admire the balls to ride solo in the cold.

Have Fun and Ride Safe!

re: Rider Mania: 2012. A lot of time to think! EDIT: Added pics from RM 2016

Rider Mania 2016 was in Nagpur.

Barely 550 kms from my home it did not need any special preparation to ride. I left on the morning of 22-Jan.
Took the service road beside the Hyderabad ORR from APPA Junction to Medchal. Was a horrible decision because there are more speed breakers on this road than I have hair on my head.

I kept on riding for about 230 kms before I decided to make my first pitstop for a cup of tea and some water.
Got back on the bike in less than 10 mins and resumed my journey. It was a good road till the border between Telengana and Maharashtra. Then the road deteriorated.
Stopped for a nice lunch at a Dhaba.

I reached the venue by evening.

The facilities were sub-par but what the hell. I came to meet my friends and while this was not the best of places. The company made up for it.

My old riding buddy Sudhir had already come to the venue earlier in the day.

We chilled out for the next two days.

Left for Nagpur late on Sunday.
Stayed at an Oyo room because we both desperately wanted a hot water bath and a clean toilet.

The ride back home was filled with nostalgia. I can barely wait for the next RM which will be hosted by the Bangalore based RTMC.
