Germany is one of my most favorite European cities. I have been there a few times and every time am amazed by how it is. Gone were the days when
it was rumored to be difficult for tourist due to the language barrier.
Love the multicultural feel of the city. now people from every race and every country are seen in every nook and corner!
Since the Schengen visa was still valid, it was not much of a hassle. Guessed so even the temperatures would be moderate so was travelling light minus the winter wear.
Since on the last vist had travelled in LH, this time decided to switch to Air France.
Planned the trip via Luxembourg.
Bangalore --> Paris--> Luxembourg (

German Border
Destination at Germany was Trier -Germany's oldest city.
Trier is a historic city in west central Germany, just six miles from the Luxembourg border.
Trier - Situated in a valley
The Hotel situated in the city place is very convenient as the shopping centers are beside it.
It still feels pleasantly small today, despite its population of 100,000. Trier's market square is one of the nicest in Germany, filled with fruit stands, flowers, painted facades, and fountains.
Catholic pilgrims still come to Trier in large numbers to honor the relic of the Holy Robe at the Dom St. Peter] -a Roman Catholic church which dates back to Roman times and is home to the Holy Tunic, a garment with a recorded history back to the 12th century, in Catholic tradition said to be the robe Jesus was wearing when he died. It is only exhibited every few decades, at irregular intervals.
The “Tunic of Jesus Christ” went on display today for the first time in 16 years.
The tunic is believed to be the garment worn by Jesus Christ prior to his crucifixion, quoted in the Gospel of St. John as “seamless.”
The tunic, also known as the “Holy Robe” and “Christ’s Seamless Tunic,” is on display from April 13 to May 13 in Trier.
Was a great honor to have seen this piece of garment on display. No photographs were allowed in the Dom (cathedral) . The next set of pics relate to this and the last is the closest pic I could take.
Celebrations till may 13th
The cathedral in view
The Tunic on display. In the last century the sacred robe was displayed only thrice, 1933,1959 and in 1996.
