There is a typo in the photo - the web-site should read as www.IndiaHighways.com.
Congrats HVK on featuring in the calendar! So did you switch to Goodyear now? I think in your previous Ladakh trip (IPHE 2011), you had Geolander A/T.
How are the Goodyears compared to the previous one?

The irony is that HVK drove all around India in Yokos and me in Good Year. Since this happened, I ditched Good Year and Switched to Yokos now

HVKumar sir and Laluks, this travelogue made me realise one thing: That there is a traveller in me too, which needs to hit the road soon.
With regards to the travelogue, wonderful narration and pictures. And, this travelogue shows how much planning is required before you set foot into a place. Hats off to both of you.

OT: The roads seem treacherous and that by itself is an understatement and here i am, rolling back in my car from speedbreakers in my city .
Need to do a lot of driving before i even think of driving anywhere.

Thanks for the compliments.
Yes, planning is important, but the most well-founded plans can get thrown asunder due to inclement weather conditions, and one has to have back-up plans & time buffers in place. We were lucky that we did not get stuck anywhere, but our friend Avinash who went a moth later had to face the agony of getting stuck for 2 days at a hamlet due to landslide on the Tyari-Gulabgarh sector.
Maps are totally unreliable and you have to rely on your judgement & local knowledge. Do not expect any facilities en route.
Plan your refuelling with utmost care. Just because a place has a petrol pump does not necessarily mean that it has stock, it may have run out of fuel.

Fantastic travelogue and amazing pics too!!
Thanks a million to HVK for the trip and laluks for bringing it to life with your amazing snaps

Driving to Kashmir is a long cherished dream. And I don't see it materialising any time soon too, with me located down South in God's own country.

Someday....

So,
thanks for dhanushmenon for bumping it up and reminding me to post in this travelogue, after getting the membership.

A BIG thanks to dear Laluks - which was given in my heart, several times before I got the membership and for the 'most wonderful' travelogue on T-bhp (my personal opinion).

Great post laluks. To say the least, I am tempted... Great Ghat rides where you find your heart permanently in your mouth.

What an absolutely engrossing travelogue even thought it's almost 3 Years old.HVK Sir , may I have the privilege of meeting you in person the next time I'm in Mumbai?

On another note, do you still have that Scorpio? If yes, I would like to know the current ODO reading.
