Sunday drive to Panchapalli dam

I decided all of a sudden to take a drive to someplace near Bangalore, and be back by evening. So searched around and narrowed down on Panchapalli dam, near Denkanikottai, near Hosur.

I use a Samsung S3 with Sygic offline navigation. Very good software, and gets me to my destination everytime. I trust it more than google maps.

Started at 9 30 in the morning. Couldn't start before that. Fueled up at IOC pump in HSR layout, and set out. Crossed silk board in no time, and headed on the Elevated Highway on Hosur road. First time for me on the road, and it is exhilarating! I have an i10, and cruising at 100-110 kmph is easy as ever. But at even a little higher speed, i could feel the car sliding around. I have stock tyres and wheels. Maybe time for a change?

Crossed Attibele and headed towards Hosur. (Didn't know about a shortcut with which you can avoid Hosur outskirts also). Took a deviation just outside Hosur, and continued towards Denkanikottai. SH 17A i think. Beautiful roads... Very well maintained. But Narrow. Stuck behind a bus on the way back for atleast 10 kms.

Reached Denkanikottai at around 11 and asked for directions to Panchapalli. Straight road, no deviations, and okish road, for 20 kms before you reach the dam.

Absolutely cannot be called a dam. Not much of water at all, and i actually descended down into the river bed to take some photos

Not much to see other than the dam. Started back at around 1.

Reached Bangalore at 3 with a lot of stops on the way for photos.

Pictures from the trip.

Hey Bharath,

The first pic has come out well, shows you got a nice hand on the camera. Which camera/lens do you use ?

For a minute I was gazing and thinking how the hell he captured this kind of a pic together(all in one terrain). I realized later that they were 2 different pics (1 & 2).

Re: Sunday drive to Panchapalli dam

The time to be at the place is 7-8AM. On the way you get amazing sunrise. The approach to that dam (Palacode road) from Denkanikottai has a rustic charm.
Especially when you descend down the hill and get a first glimpse of the water.

Makes for a nice early morning getaway

EDIT: This is what I meant: (Sorry to add pictures in your travelogue!)

Sunrise on the Denkanikottai-Palacode road.

Thanks Bro... I just played around with the setting in light room to get this effect. But I had a worthy buddy. My D90. Lens is 18-105 stock with a polarizing filter to emphasize the clouds.

But I didn't understand your statement about two pictures...?

Bro I wish there was so much water when I'd gone... Good pics man... Lovely.

Re: Sunday drive to Panchapalli dam

When i was coming back towards Bangalore, on the elevated highway, I was travelling at 95-10 kmph, and I could feel the car sliding around a bit. I dont know whether it was due to strong cross winds etc, but i had to reduce my speed to 80 after I felt that I would lose control.

I'm on stock tyres and wheels. Please suggest what I should do. Just get new tyres or change to alloys as well? And can i please have suggestions for tyres?
