10-22 is a ultrawide zoom lens, no macro.
Software Photoshop CS4

The lenses have served to pretty well . Which one did you use for most of the pics? 10-22?

Pls do post more pics!
Well 10-22 of course. i just love the lens. lot of freedom in composition. some of the mountain tops need zoom, there 70-200 came into play.

Nope, 10-22 is NOT a fish-eye zoom. It's a Ultra wide zoom lens. Basically it's only for EF-S(crop sensor) mount and hence the effective focal length is 16-35mm (due to 1.6x crop factor) on cameras like 40D which the OP has used. Fish-eyes are a different category of lenses where you can see a totally different type of distortion than a ultra-wide lens.
Again, thanks for sharing the beautiful photographs. BTW, 70-200 which one? F4 or 2.8? With or without IS? Ofcourse all of them are brilliant lenses

Lovely pictures and great narration doc, thanks for sharing
Valparai is a great place to visit.

In your opening post, you have a picture of a waterfall along with the Sholayar valley and dam. Where is this ? I don't remember seeing this.

Are you sure you took just 45 minutes from Malakkappara check post to Athirapilly ?
Asking since I took almost 3 hours to cover the same distance
And seems to be pretty similar road conditions as well since about 10 Km after Malakkappara towards Athirapilly was bad when I drove in May this year.

At Malakkappara check post where they check the car and issue a certificate which has to be submitted at the exit. 45 mins from here is Athirapally falls. Maps indicated a pretty straight road, but in reality its mostly ghat roads.

Re: Stunning Valparai

You guys had the liberty to stop & click the dam, but I wasn't so lucky. I went there on the Aug-15 weekend, and there were forest guards every few meters not allowing to stop anywhere on the ghat road!
