How do I tell you how much you are making me drool. This thread has become the main reason for the constant abuse on the F5 button today on my laptop

Can you please let me know the exact route to be taken from Ranchi, and how safe would the entire route be for an early morning spin?

From Ranchi one has to take the Kanke Road to Kanke, continue straight to Pithoria and then the ghat roads starts to Patratu. Its a pretty straight forward route. It is safe to travel but it is not advisable to spend much time once in Patratu as tourists get noticed easily and also its better to be back in Ranchi before it gets dark.

Let me know when you are in Ranchi. It will be good to meet a fellow bhpian.

Thanks a lot for the info. I will definitely PM you my stay dates at Ranchi by next week. It would be indeed great to meet a fellow Bhpian in Ranchi and probably we could go enjoy a spin too

I am game. Provided it is some 300kms from my place, so that I can do 600kms round trip & be at my home for the night.

Lovely pics...
This is really gr8 that good roads are coming up in Ranchi, do u have any idea about the road condition from Ranchi to Raipur via Gumla, I went through that stretch soon after Jharkhand and Chattisgarh were created and the road condition was awesome then..
The route is indeed very picturesque and scenic and has a few breath taking curves, we followed the route till Amarkantak and were really mesmerised by the beauty of the route..

The Ranchi-Gumla-Raipur road is good at most stretches but heard it is totally unsafe as the region around Gumla and beyond are the hiding spots for the naxalites. I am planning to go to Netarhat soon so will update on the road conditions in that section if I go via Gumla.

Purnea to Ranchi will be close to 500 kms I guess. Its better you halt a night at Ranchi or Bokaro, wherever you prefer and then get back to Purnea the next day. Riding 1000 kms in a single day will be too tiring and the road conditions may also vary from good to bad to ugly in some sections.

Re: The scintillating Patratu Valley in Jharkhand

Don't the folks of Jharkhand drive/ride some distance?

If I leave at 4am, I shall cover 300kms by 9am, sit till 4pm & be back home by 10-11pm.

Night stay shall be a bother.

But the road conditions should be considered too. So its better you do proper research on the road condition and then plan your trip accordingly to Ranchi. Google map shows that Purnea to Ranchi is 458 kms.

You got me wrong there //M

I meant to say that if there is a Bihar - JH (maybe WB can be clubbed as well) Team BHP meet, then I would do that.

Bokaro/Ranchi/Jamshedpur to Purnea and back in a day...I can't even think about that.
