From the time I read that you were planning to take the Laura to Ladakh, I was awaiting this TL.

By 1300hrs we left Thikse Gompa. Plan for rest of the day was to pick permits, get the car washed and roam around in the market.

For now we wanted to spend some time at riverside, but we did not know where, that is when Traffic cops asked us to stop. The nicely dressed smart looking local traffic cop comes to me and says "Hello, How are you?, How is your trip going?" I was surprised, i have never seen such a well behaved, english speaking smartly dressed cop in India. He stopped us to check if we had sunfilm on our car and advised us to drive slow. We asked about any riverside spot, he pointed out a small Forest department maintained Jungle nearby. We spent around an hour lazing by riverside.

Dropped Ladies at out accomodation and we left to get the car washed. After hours of seraching we could find an relatively empty washing station in Chogalamsar. Car wash guys took leisurely 2 hours to wash my car, the job was worth it and costed only 150 bucks. In the meantime met a local social worker Rehman from Kargil, he was there to get his Santro washed, a nice person to talk to and we discussed local issues, politics and what not. He recommended me to take the Manali route, he said some stretches are bad but he does this stretch frequently in his 12 year old Santro.

After some relaxing at our rooms, left for the market in eve. Spent most of the time at a rooftop restaurant, loved the Pizza! Picked the permits and left for our rooms.

Waiting for the rest of it especially the rest of the pics of the RR at K-Top We guys keep on thinking to choose the right company/ car/ spares etc for a trip and that guy was on a 1925 RR.

Nice travelogue Anshuman and good photo's too. GC in Laura is always underestimated by many and your travelogue shuts their mouth!

BTW - Which variant of Laura do you have? From the alloy wheels - it looks like Ambiente. Reason for asking is you have mentioned about the curtains and as per my understanding it only comes in L&K variant.

Yes, it is Ambiente DSG 140hp CRDI. Curtains are aftermarket P8 ones.

Rear Curtains are available as original Skoda Accesory.

Good to hear about the aftermarket curtains. How much does it cost? Would it be possible for you post some pictures of the curtain - how it was installed?

Re: Ladakh in my Laura- Travelogue

Waiting for next batch of pics to arrive?

In the meantime check out this old travelogue by me on my drive to Tawang in a Indigo. Be warned, pictures are not as good, back then i did not even hold a camera properly, just a few random clicks with P&S camera. I simply loved the moon shot. So clear and crisp. Can you please share the EXIF details and the camera and lens you used for this compilation.
Thanks

Re: Ladakh in my Laura- Travelogue

A truly inspiring travelogue. Especially its really good to see a sedan take the Ladakh road trip so well. Thanks for sharing the amazing pictures. The landscape of Ladakh and its vast emptiness has always somehow fascinated me and your pictures couldn't have brought it out better. Thanks a ton and keep the pictures coming. I am hooked to this thread.

Re: Ladakh in my Laura- Travelogue

Excellent pictures by 5100! (need to learn a lot from your pictures) Hats off.
I feel most of the pictures are clicked by a wide angle lens too (i might be wrong)
Were there any scrapping done by the laura during the journey?
About the P8 curtains do they need to cut the door's fiber cladding a bit to accomodate them?
