I just realized, I missed to mention this.
Not to break your hearts, The Dzire did not do Sach pass. Badari had decided not to do this stretch in Bangalore itself. However, I tried convincing him in Khajjiar but after a lot of discussions we decided not to take a chance. I'm glad we did.
From Khajjiar, I headed towards Chamba -> Sach Pass -> Kishtwar -> Srinagar and the Dzire via Pathankot -> Jammu -> Srinagar. Apologies for missing this earlier
So, the spectacular views just continued all the way till Bairagad, but with a small hindrance.
Gateway to Paradise!
Marvelous views at dusk!
This was probably the biggest waterfall, so far
We knew we were heading towards that,
However, this is what happened,
It looked as though it was falling on the road and we would drive through it. Hence, I asked him to take a video but unfortunately that was not the case.
How it looked from inside,
Spend sometime admiring the beauty and surroundings,
That's where it was heading,
Cool road ahn!
After a short drive, another huge waterfalls, but this one was quite far
Another 5 odd kms to reach Bairagad, we stopped again to enjoy this..
..Not knowing, what was awaiting ahead of us
About 2 Kms away from Bairagad, there was slush all over the road and right in the middle there was a huge stone. I went to remove the stone, when my feet just went inside the slush. I just realized, it was a landslide, not a big one but there was no way we could cross it as it was very muddy and loose. My worry was, if the car skids, it would take us too close to the cliff. So, dint take a chance.
We removed all the bags and I removed the shovel, as it was right at the bottom. I wore my gum boots, cleared some of the slush and levelled the road, as though I knew how to do it. I tried to level some more but the shovel just dint go in. Another stone beneath the slush. So, removed it using my hands. I had asked Pandu to keep an eye of the surroundings and he in the mean time thought, he would click some pics, however, he noticed a rock fall behind me and wanted to warn me. He only managed to click this and came towards me. During this drama, we both failed to realize that we did not click any pics.
If you observie in this pic, the grey stone on the right top was just hanging there and the slush was flowing down slowly on to the road, from right next to it.
The guy who is standing there, just went past us and I'm sure he must have been wondering if we had come all the way from Bangalore, just to clear the slush
What could have easily been a perfect day, ended up in this fashion. After I reached the town, I enquired in a tea shop if there were any rooms. Initially he said no but after seeing our plight, he was kind enough to rent one. I cleaned my shoes, the gum boots, shovel, re-arranged all my luggage and more importantly, cleaned up myself.
We came down to have dinner and the owner, who is preparing tea, told us that the road opened at 5PM that evening and we reached at 7. We both just exchanged looks thinking how lucky we were.
