Re: 18 Passes, 15 lakes and 2 breakdowns : Ladakh and Lahaul call again

Sir, i must say you must be the second man on tbhp who can make people sit up and read your log at one go even without the pictures. And boy! when the pictures start coming, you just drool over them. Closely following this log. i am sure this one would be amongst your very best.

Day 3 #1 : The first leg begins

We got up not very early. There was not much need to get really early. Chandertaal was just a few hours away.
However, first thing to do was drive some 10kms towards Sissu to make a phone call. BSNL tower in Khoksar was down since past couple of days, and we were not sure when we would be able to talk to family
Some views

The Road to sissu is real well done. Infact, compared to 2009, the roads are in a much better shape. I guess with Rohtang tunnel done, Lahaul connectivity will be really great

Finally, it was past 10 when we took the road towards Kunzum from Gramphoo. This section is under PWD, and not BRO. And PWD stands for Public Wrecking Department. So no roads

Monsoon has been vigorous in september. So the falls are in their full glory

And the grass is still green Enjoying the last remenants of moisture

Our first stop is Chattru, the Dhaba point, for a nice brunch

Brilliant images and narration as usual - so definitely we were there around the same time!! good that you went to Zanskar, around September - October is in fact the perfect time for Ladakh nowadays.

Kothi check gate fellows dont stay even in the day time during the last week of September. Did not cross anyone, though of course I was on cycle, just thought of asking them about all this checking but the no one was there.

Re: 18 Passes, 15 lakes and 2 breakdowns : Ladakh and Lahaul call again

Hello,

Tanveer is back, back with a bang.

One more Ladakh Travelogue, but I am sure, this one will definitely have best possible photographs & narration. Good to know that Ball joint burst was detected right on time before it could create some serious damage in middle of nowhere.

Tanveer, I am following this thread very closely & hope this time you complete it on time (your last travelogue to Europe was delayed in middle as you got busy with work).

Thank you in advance in anticipation of great pictures, exciting narration & inspiration to Live to Drive to wonderful places.

Thanks,

I tried calling you many times from Leh, and then wherever we got signal. Your phone was switched off. I guess you do not have a BSNL connection? Or maybe did not get a chance to charge it!

Arre! - I think from September 27th till October 4th evening, the mobile connection was not there - after Darcha and till Leh.

I was again lost to mobile connection from October 6 to October 9 night due to Stok Kangri summit trek. [ BSNL postpaid is the default connection]

Anyway, do continue. Good that you got the milky way image, it was but full moon phases all through - did not get a brilliant starry sky as I had hoped.

The travelogue I have been waiting for the last 2weeks! Like all tsk thread, it started with a bang and amazing photographs. If you remember me, we met in Chandrataal (the troublesome qualis). Your shots are just out of the world, also nightscape with a fisheye (i guess) - a whole new prospective!
Bring it on! Eagerly waiting for the next instalments.

Your thread is one of the reasons i am not able to decide on my next upgrade. With most vehicle warranties finishing in 80k (3 years for me), what does one do afterwards is THE question.

Wawesomely well written man, really nice even at 4am! You're delaying my ride today
