Gangotri Temple   Main Bathing ghat  Bhagirathi flowing    We took bath in Bhagirathi before visiting the temple, it was freezing cold  Gaumukh is some where up there   continued.... |

| Re: Chota Char Dham - A Road Trip to Uttarakhand Day 4 25th September 2012 We stopped to buy some apples  Uttarakhand Apples - This sector is an apple country  A layered water fall  Moon already started showing up  By 17:00 hours we were back to our hotel in Uttar Kashi and the amazing views of Bhagirathi  Had a great time together with the team, and had dinner together and retired for the day. |

| Re: Chota Char Dham - A Road Trip to Uttarakhand Day 5 26th September 2012 We started early and drove towards Kedarnath Roads were a mess   By 14:00 hours we still had 80KMs to Kedarnath  We were welcomed to Devbhoomi  Distances were not reducing, the roads took a toll on us  We stopped for a great lunch  We continued on the battered roads   By 16:00 hours we still had 54 KMs to Kedarnath  We slowly but steadily drove on  continued... |

Finally we reached Gaurikund by 19:30 hours. Got us all rooms and hot dinner and retired early for the day. Next day was to start at 03:00AM. |

| Re: Chota Char Dham - A Road Trip to Uttarakhand Day 6 27th September 2012 We woke up early by 03:00AM and took bath in the hot water spring, Tapt kund which was near the start of the trek. After a nice refreshing bath we went to the Govt. Pony counter. Since we were a 26 people team for the pony, we were given priority and the billing of 1600 per head was done immediately. Make sure you take bill in individual names, the pony owners are so mean that they just vanish with the bills, leaving you stranded. We found that 2 of our members names were missing and we told the Govt guy at the counter about it. He immediately cancelled and reissued the receipts for the two for us. The pony guys will only be paid if they show the receipt at the counter. Keep your receipt till you finish the round trip and then only hand it over to them. They will reuse the same to get another person up and down for cheap rates too. It's a complicated business - be aware of the same. There are two checkpoints where you have to show the receipts. So whatever deal you strike be aware of all these. Government Rates  By 06:00AM we were all on our ponies and we started our journey to Kedarnath. It is about 14 KMs from the base. KSM-Vtec happy with his Pony (Rani)  We slowly moved on  The glacier far away attracted us  We neared a small settlement  That was Rambada, exactly midway from Kedarnath and Base. We reached there in an hour by 07:00AM. We took a mandatory break to rest and have some breakfast, while the ponies also rested.  continued... |
