I was watching the skies  It was time to say bye to Auli this time  Nice roads awaited us down  We were 491 KM from Delhi, but we did not want to go to Delhi  We saw some wild life too   This truck fell from the mountain - see the rear axle lying far away   We drove continuously as to reach Ranikhet by 20:00 hours. We got into a good hotel and got us some hot dinner and crashed for the night. |

| Re: Chota Char Dham - A Road Trip to Uttarakhand Day 10 30th September 2012 We spoke to some taxi guys and found the road to Lucknow via Hardoi is the best bet and not the one via Sitapur. We took that route and had some nice night drive to Lucknow. Bolbolero leading us via Hardoi to Lucknow  The Setting Sun was with us for a long time  This is all what we could see in the dark  By 20:00 hours we were in the outskirts of Lucknow.  We reached the Lucknow centre by 20:30 hours and based on yet another expert advice checked into Hotel Capoors, in Hazratganj, bang in the centre of the city. The rooms were pricey and we shelled around 3.5K for a room for the night. The carpets were stinky and rooms were not clean! I must say most of the Rs 200 GMVNs fared much better. Finally it took some time for us to adjust to the rooms, and I had to pull out my inhaler to prevent an attack of wheasing due to the stinky room. I was in no mood for a quick dinner, so ordered some of the Lucknowi delicacies to the room before they closed their Kitchen. Absolute shocker, sleeping without dinner could have been better!! Was thinking what an end to an otherwise beautiful trip!! I had a flight to catch from Lucknow the next day evening and so did Jeep Captain. It was decided that we meet up for breakfast and the convoy will continue back to their home towns. Hit the bed and crashed. Tomorrow is another day! |

We asked the hotel guys to keep our room till evening and we decided to check out the place. We decided to check out some Chikan works - I have mixed feelings, now a days everything is available everywhere at more or less the same price points.  We saw this Swift being taken away for wrong parking   We killed some time at a Movie - Heroine  Jeep Captain is happy at the idea  There was nobody in the theatre  Hmmm....  That's Capoors! I wouldn't recommend it. For that price point you can get much better service and a clean place!  The old time feel - Check the Black and White boards   continued... |

| Re: Chota Char Dham - A Road Trip to Uttarakhand Day 11 1st October 2012 We went in search of famous Tunday Kababs  Jeep Captain seemed to have loved it  Some awards  I was not very much impressed, the same taste and feel. Nothing so different, any ways one more tick mark to the check list - Had Tunday Kababs at Lucknow We took two ricks to the airport. The cock pit   As usual no meter rates, only negotiated rates!  Jeep Captain looks tired, It was so hot in Lucknow!  SS looks like an American Indian on a joyride!  Some interesting building en route Lucknow airport  Lucknow Bangalore flight had just a few passengers!  I landed in Bangalore by midnight and took the last bus back to my place. Vayu Vajra - Such a helpful service.  Reached home by 01:00AM. Staright away crashed into bed. Next day was October 2nd. Gandhi Jayanti and a holiday. I enjoyed the most of it by sleeping What a trip it was. Thank you BolBolero, KSM-Vtec and Jeep Captain for a wonderful trip. Thanks a lot to the other team mates for all the enjoyable time we had together. Signing off now, till we embark on another such trip.. Thanks a lot guys!! THE END |
