Pramod even in my case there is no time of delivery mentioned on the receipt, only date and time of booking and customer ID. My SE has verbally told me that a W6 will take about 8 weeks and 5-6 weeks for a W8. Off course, another dealer in Mumbai has told me delivery in 2 weeks, and has actually delivered to two BHPians in that time frame, provided colour is White or Silver!!

Re: Drive in my XUV to Delhi & beyond

After returning to Delhi from the trip to Amritsar and Kasauli my younger daughter, S-I-L and his mother flew back to Bombay. My wife and I have to attend a wedding in Delhi / Gurgaon after a few days before returning to Jamshedpur and to make good use of our being temporarily based in Delhi, we drove off to Uttarakhand for a couple of days.

We spent a night at Kashipur -- an old friend is the Director of the fledgling IIM there and we enjoyed his hospitality.

You truly had a great vacation!
Nainital is a great place, it has to be my favorite hill station as of yet.
Lakes everywhere and clouds floating so low, they seem to be entering your room

P.S. When i went to Nainital, i noticed something wierd there. There was a large map put up beside the Naini Lake and at the bottom it read " Time of Rainfall - 8:30 am"
They seemed to have some arrangement with the Rain Gods!

I see the Garmin navigator. Have your posted the details anywhere? What maps are you using? Comments on the performance if you can give.

BTW good pics and good holiday!

Fantastic pictures, those at Mallital and Nainital. The imagination that has gone into the clicking is amazing.
Did you use any filters in those and btb. which one is the box, you are using.

Re: Drive in my XUV to Delhi & beyond

Debuda dear, fantastic pictures once again. Couldn't take off my eyes from the white flower with a yellow centre. Just in pictures it looks so beautiful, to see it in real would have been a heavenly experience. What is the name of that flower? The bird of paradise is a different beauty altogether. Looking at the pictures I felt as if I am in Nainital. Good to know that the Power Steering conquered the winding ghat roads without any fuss. About the second gear issue, I believe some adjustments in the gear shifter should sort this out.

Keep adding those beautiful pictures.

Re: Drive in my XUV to Delhi & beyond

Excellent Pictures Debuda. You seemed to have covered a lot of ground in your XUV.

Is it possible to put a route map like Jameshedpur-Ranchi-Delhi etc.....till you reached back home with kms to see the entire circuit?

Loved the last 3 pictures of Nainital a lot. Taken with a photographer's eye. Which camera were you using?

Btw, XUV in Silver looks fabulous

Some comments on the Garmin Nuvi50LM are at http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...ml#post2961445

The Garmin is performing more or less satisfactorily. Satellite lock is very fast and stable. But maps (I have the latest preloaded Garmin maps) leave a lot to be desired. Nainital is not even mentioned in the maps! On the highways the maps goofed up a few times. Even in Delhi I sometimes use my own sense of direction (I spent many years in Delhi earlier) to overrule the Garmin's directions. The touchscreen acted up a couple of times. I'd give it 6 out of 10 with the present version of maps.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments on my pictures. I use a simple compact digicam -- Canon SX100IS. No filters. Also, I use minimal digital manipulation (no Photoshopping). I use imaging software only for cropping and improving contrast / saturation.

I faced abnormally dense and chaotic traffic while returning to Delhi from Nainital because it was Kartik Purnima and almost a million people who had come to Garhmukteshwar (Hapur District, U.P.) for a holy dip in the Ganges were returning to their villages in bullock / buffalo carts, tractors, vans, mini-trucks, etc. I had never seen so many animal driven carts and tractors together ever before.

I was just plain unlucky and you need not have any concerns about driving to Nainital and back on a normal day. Of course, while entering Delhi in the evening you can expect a few miles of bumper-to-bumper crawling traffic on any day.

Re: Drive in my XUV to Delhi & beyond

Lovely travelogue Debuda! Very nice compositions too! Rated 5 stars.

I was in Uttarakhand last month when i drove down there from Bangalore. The Bazpur - Kaladhungi - Nainital road is lovely.

Edit: checked our profile, we have a Navy connection - my wife was in the Navy for 8 years (SSC).

Re: Drive in my XUV to Delhi & beyond

After returning to Delhi from Nainital / Bhowali, my wife and I shifted base to Gurgaon for a couple of days to attend a family wedding. The way Gurgaon has developed is quite awesome.

We start our return journey to Jamshedpur tomorrow.

Let me share some pics I took at Lodi Gardens (New Delhi) yesterday.

This is a climb I have taken a number of times. Had I known that you were around, maybe would have taken some time out to catch up with you. BTW we do share some more things besides the car.
Wishing you a safe journey back.

Debuda, you have a knack for so many things in life! Besides a very deep understanding of cars, now photography and beautiful story-telling also got added to that list.

Thanks for sharing.
