A thirst for photography lead me to Srivillputhur

This happened to be my second trip in 10 days after kodai trip , it was a quick decision to make this trip. During Jan31st during a friends meet my friend said why don't you come to my in-laws place (Srivilliputhur) for a forest trip,

I was surprised to hear "forest in Srivilliputhur" then i said ok, When and how. "By train this weekend" that was the reply from friend.

He managed to book ticket through tatkal and we started by 8:00 PM on friday. Reached srivi next morning we decided to go to senbhagathoppu,

Picked up two Apache bikes from friends and started

On the way we had stopped near a pond after spotting birds out there

We continued our journey towards senbagathoppu and spotted a national bird Couldn't make a good photo of it as he was running fast inside bushy place.

We entered the place and paid the bike entry ticket and moved in. Once we started walking we spotted a Grizzled Squirrel which is very famous to this forest

Again a bad photo because the squirrel was moving swiftly

I was in an impression of having a good Bird photography in this forest and the whole idea is changed after seeing these beauties

And there was a trap to butterflies too

to be continued.

Re: A thirst for photography lead me to Srivillputhur

The trip to senbagathoppu reminded me a tamil song "oh butterfly, butterfly"

When i was shooting these beauties i could see that there were around 5 ~10 flying around me. Oh, That was a heavenly feel

Re: A thirst for photography lead me to Srivillputhur

This happened with my travelogues. I was told, the images need to appear in the thread within 30mins of loading, otherwise they'll be deleted. But I believe there was something else wrong, too. May be opening multiple "manage attachment" views causes a problem.

Anyway, the only way was to reload the images in such cases :-(

Re: A thirst for photography lead me to Srivillputhur

Day 2

It wasn't a great day as like the first day, been to Bilakkal dam and around, with a permission of forest dept (took by friend's father-in-law)

We could evidence lot of elephant dunk which proved the scarcity of water in that jungle.

That is an amazing collection of pictures Raj. Well done buddy!

Besides being struck by the natural beauty of the place, I'd like to know what photography gear you used to capture these shots. Can you please elaborate for everyone's benefit?

Cheers mate!

Re: A thirst for photography lead me to Srivillputhur

Yet another place 'discovered' thanks to another BHPian

Some very nice pics captured there raj. Have a couple of requests-

Please elaborate on the location of Srivi for those who are not familiar with the co-ordinates.
Is it possible to add titles to the pics of those beautiful birds captured in your frame again for those unaware of them . Sorry but

Re: A thirst for photography lead me to Srivillputhur

Thanks Girish, The place is located near Madurai in Virudhunagar District, Srivilliputhur AKA Srivi, The place i went is called Senbaga thooppu - This is a less dense forest where the climate would be little hot comparing other forests, and the day 2 pics are taken from Billakal dam which is around 30 kms from Srivi (we hired a car) where you have to take a diversion in a place called Krishnan koil

Once again thanks for reminding me to find out the names

The species which you see here are Blue Jay, Egrets, Night Heron, Painted stork, Peacock, cormorant, Kingfisher, Black kite, Green Bee-eater, Ibis, ducks, spider, Sandpiper, Jungle barbler, Wagtail and butterflies like Wanderer, Common gull, pioneer, Great orange tip, Crimson rose, Common rose, plain tiger, glassy tiger..etc
