Smaller at the top? I think tiny is more apt, nandi hills is spread over 90 acres while kundadri felt like an acre to me.

Regarding the elevation nandi hills is at 4,500+ ft MSL(as per boards posted there). kundadri is merely 2,700 ft MSL(wikipedia). I think we climbed it in 10 mins in a jeep. On a late Nov evening , I remember feeling hot there :(

I agree what you said about nandi hills, during early 90's it was something else. But even today if you stayed back in the govt guest overnight it is fun! the weather is to die for with lots of fog & chilly winds

I am absolutely floored by the condition of the RDs. Its my dream bike. Regret each and every moment for giving it off.

Thanks for pushing me to write that up. Finally have posted up the ride report for the Coast to Coast ride - as soon as a mod pushes it out from the "Assembly Line".

Re: Mindless Rambles and eventually it is Kundadri. 7 Bikers go Camping!

One of the all-time best biker travelogues on team-bhp, Mahesh! . Rating it a well-deserved 5 stars. I was thoroughly entertained by your narration and pictures. Looks like all of you had a great time camping out in the open. Kundadri is a really nice place to camp in, considering that very few tourists plague this beauty. Agumbe remains one of my favourite destinations for the very same reason. Kasturi akka's hospitality, antique home and yummy food are mind-blowing. She wasn't keeping good health the last time I visited there in 2012. Hope she has fully recovered now

On a different note, I think I recognize the place where you put up your tents on Kundadri (from the time I visited there by car). The tent place was behind the open car parking area on the top, just before the steps if I'm not mistaken . When I went there in monsoon, we were scampering around this place fighting leeches trying to climb our feet *lol*.

P.S - Why was rk_sans made the luggage carrier?? *lol*

Both the RD's were in testing mode. First time both of them were out on a long ride(really a long ride). So did not wanted to strain the engines. So eventually with the pannier on the bike, i was the bakra as "luggage carrier".

After Santosh's successfull thrashing of Leh and such other terrains with a LOT more luggage, no one else could have done justice to this responsibility. Santosh was by default our benchmark in this area. :P

Re: Mindless Rambles and eventually it is Kundadri. 7 Bikers go Camping!

Hi Mahesh,

It was a nice TL with beautiful pics from both of the teammates.

After seeing the pics of the courtryside , I am already feeling the adreline rush to my head.

I also have carried out small trips around the konkan maharashtra maxing to 700KMs on bikes with friends.

One thing I wanted to know from you is about the tents which you have carried.

What it the size of the tents after dismantling it ?

How come you carried it on the bikes?

I am very much interested in getting one for our countryside trips too.

hmm! bikes are meant for the countryside riding, not for highways. On straight highways you only feel the pain in your bums after a long ride.

Hats off to all the teammates of thie travelogue!!

Hey Karthik,
Many thanks for your kind words of encouragement. A wonderful road trip at that and thought of penning it on Portal for future remembrance.

Yes Kasturi Akka is doing good, she was fit as a fiddle.

We actually pitched tents at the summit and not at the bottom. We had parked our bikes at the place where you mentioned so that they can get some cover.

Regarding Santosh being the luggage carrier, well he was the designated supplies man and yes this was the big road trip post the engine rebuild. The engines of both RD have hardly run 3000 Kms so did not want to put undue stress on them. And what more in getting a experienced person to do the job for us

Santosha, you are not the lone bakra :P but yes a big big thanks is all I can mutter at this point in time.

Hi Allauddin,
Many thanks for your kind words of encouragement.
Will try to post in the picture of tent in its bag. For starters you can imagine them to be the size of 4 cricket wickets neatly stacked in a square area.
Suggest you to look up at the deccathlon websites for better understanding.
Have posted a Youtube video of a demonstration which will help you better understand.

Lovely write up and great pictures. Malnad is definitely a bikers paradise but still not explored. Hope it remains like that. Kundadri is a charming place.
