Re: There's quite nothing like Australia - A Travelogue Sydney's public transport system is pretty good and efficient. So one of the days we decided to take a day travel card which allows us to travel across Sydney in Bus, Trains or Ferries. So the route was set. Breakfast at cockatoo island & rest of the day at Manly Beach.
"Cockatoo Island is a heritage-listed island in the middle of beautiful Sydney Harbor. Hop on a ferry and explore the island for the day or stay overnight in the campground or holiday houses."

We took a train from our home station to Circular Quay from where most ferries originate and then from there we took an express ferry to the island. There is a small cafe there where we had our morning coffee over looking the harbor. One can spend an entire day exploring the island and reading about its history etc. We spent close to 2 hrs at the island before taking the ferry back to Circular Quay and then taking another ferry to take us to Manly Beach.
Manly beach is another popular beach of Sydney. I guess 2nd most popular beach after Bondi Beach.
A few pics from cockatoo island, Manly beach and the ferry. The ferry route offers one of the best views of the harbor as well as some beautiful water front houses.
A jet boat ride with the PM's residence in back drop.
