Kathmandu Valley is part of three districts - Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. I had visited the Patan Durbar Square at Lalitpur.

when I was entering this place with a local colleague, I was asked to purchase the entry ticket, since I was Indian. It costs Nepali Rupee 100, when my colleague gave 500 note, they didnt have change. I gave INR 100 note (easily accepted in Nepal) and gave me change accordingly.

Indian 100 rupee is widely accepted in Nepal, but its prohibited to carry Indian note of 500 or 1000.

Nice Photos PCP. Couple of questions here:

1. Did you arrange everything by yourself or it was a packaged tour ?
2. If it wasn't a packaged tour, what was your source of info ?

Thanks for sharing!

Nice pics, though we surely missed some, only if you had a longer stay in Nepal.

@ Shiv: I think the OP was on official tour, hence most likely that all things might have been taken care by the company itself.

Hi Shiv,
I had gone there for some official work. Hence, flight tickets were booked by office, hotel was pre-booked by our Nepal colleague, ofcourse I settled the bill on checkout ! I stayed at Hotel Annapurna, Durbar Marg - overall a good hotel, at the right spot of town. My room (heritage) was a bit smaller. Our partner there was kind enough to take me for this lovely place Patan Durbar Square, Lalitpur. It was around 12-15 KM from my hotel and since we started early morning didnt face any traffic issues.

Yes. also I had plan to experience the Mountain Flight, but due to lack of time and also bad weather we dropped it.

Pranav

Nice to know Pranav. BTW, it will be of help to the readers if you can disclose/ give a fair idea that how much does good hotels cost in Nepal. I think the exchange rate is pegged at 1 NR= 0.60 INR but if you could post it in INR, it will be particularly helpful.

Fooding & transportation costs would be a bonus, if you post them

Thanks,
Saket

quotes I had received from Annapurna and Radison; I was told that road towards Radisson was being repaired (traffic), so chose the other one. pick the Indian rates.

Photologue : A Trip to Kathmandu, Nepal-hotel-annapurna-np.jpg

Photologue : A Trip to Kathmandu, Nepal-radisson-np.jpg

What I paid: Hotel Annapurna, single, Heritage room (was small, surely not fit for family) - Nepali Rupees 8500 per night. That comes to around INR 5300 per night. It includes breakfast, wifi, airport transfer.
I had seen better deals online, but chose to go by partner's suggestion. Also, Hotel Everest is another big property, but outskirts of city.

Hotel Yak & Yeti was also across the road, big and luxurious hotel. I had been there for a small event of ours.

Restaurants - good ones are quite reasonably priced as in India. I don't have any bills, I was the guest! Though Im veg, I was told that fish is not regular and mostly very expensive, since there is no water around Nepal

I saw Durbar Marg has lots of hotels, restaurants and shopping market.

Transportation - don't know, since I was travelling in my partner's Toyota-LC ! traffic seems to be a big problem. The city is observing the construction of first fly-over! There are no inter-city trains, only road transport available throughout Nepal.

regards,
