Some interesting Pictures on display     The beach was inviting us, but we had to leave for now   Jr. PPG was spending some time with the fish     By 10:00AM we have packed everything in Civvy and set rolling. Was a good relaxing few days at the resort. We were all charged up. Our next destination was Pichavaram before we headed back to Bangalore. Two reasons, I did not want to retrace the route via Kanchipuram again, and also we had missed Pichavaram in an earlier trip to Tranquebar. Pichavaram was just about 50KM from the resort and from there I wanted to take Attur route to Salem and drive back. continued... |

Places of Interest near Pichavaram   The costs for boating, we took a 4 Person 1 hour option  Ticket Counter  Life Jacket is mandatory  We jacketed ourselves up   The Boat Jetty    Our Boatman  The boatmen will ask you if you want to see some shooting spot or some fancy spots. They will ask you anywhere from 300 onwards for this service. Just don't heed to those information. Your ticket entitles for a 1 hour boat ride along the mangroves any ways, and this additional amount you pay do not extend you hours nor any vantage spots either. So we just had some ice creams from here  Civvy waiting for us  Who is this?  By 13:15 we left Pichavaram thinking we will stop by for lunch at Chidambaram. We pass by Kille Railway Station  Pichavaram is 10KMs from the Pondy Chidambaram Highway  We reached Chidambaram by 13:30 Hours  Sri Natarajar Temple was nearby, a few clicks   Interesting!  Figuring out which way to go   Civvy waiting for us while we checked out the options for lunch  We checked the main streets for some lunch options, it was all shady, so decided to skip lunch and go directly to a great dinner. Kiddies were overjoyed at the option. By 14:00 hours we started our drive back to Bangalore. We took Chidambaram - Virudachalam - Veppur - Attur - Salem route. Beautiful roads, two lane till the road joins the 4 lane Thiruannamalai - Salem highway. continued... |

| Re: Civved : Pondicherry (Puducherry) Day 03 11th August 2013 Chidambaram - Bangalore By 19:00 hours we crossed Krishangiri toll gate and were continuing on towards Bangalore. I wanted to reach Bangalore around 20:30 hours and go to one of our favourite restaurants for a beauitiful dinner to conclude the trip. But PPGs found a Mac D on the route, and asked me to pull over. And thus we stopped for dinner at Mac D, Shoolagiri. PPGs were happy with the burgers!  Toy of the Day  PPGs at Mac D    By 20:00 hours we started our drive back to Bangalore My GPS says my expected time of arrival is 09:34PM  And Lo, we arrive at 09:34PM  Both the above was clicked after arrival, so it has to match Bangalore was 24 degrees when we returned back  A cool 960KMs, three days and a nice holiday. Civvy nearing her 1 lakh mark  By 22:00 hours we dumped all the luggage back to the house, and retired for the night. And thus one more beautiful holiday comes to an end. The End |

Regarding the route updates Onward Journey Bangalore - Krishnagiri - Kancheepuram Roads are good. Six laning going on, be careful at the deviations Kancheepuram - Chengalpettu Two lane roads, good surface Chengalpettu - ECR Two lane roads, good surface. You should carefully take the turn to ECR from Chengalpettu, else you might end up with Chengalpettu Tindivanam route. You will have to pass through a level crossing to get towards ECR route, this area is quite patchy. ECR - Pondy Beautiful two lane road, but crazy drivers Return Journey Pondy - Chidambaram Beautiful two lane road, but crazy drivers Chidambaram - Virudachalam - Veppur - Attur - Salem Beautiful two lane road till V Koot road, then 4 lane Highway all the way till Salem. Sand mining lorries ply in this route, many, so be a bit careful. Salem - Bangalore Roads are good. Six laning going on, be careful at the deviations | |
