1. How is the road condition from Valparai to Athirapally. To the best of my knowledge, the distance is around 70 kms
2. Good hotels to stay in Valparai.

Roads from Valparai to Malapparai is average but no major worries. The forest stretch from Malakkappara is broken at a few places. The road turns better just before Vazhachal - forgot the exact place where it turns good

Hotels - If your friend is interested only in Hotels in town then Hotel Holiday Break and Hotel Saravana Grand are okayish. Par for the course I would say. Better to stay at estate bungalows - NEPC, Waterfalls, Stanmore and Sinnadorai in increasing order of tariffs and desirability
