We didnt enquire but, I assumed its for our protection as we came to know that area is crocodile infested and also thought they must have laid thei nets to demark an area reservered for this activity as it has plenty of corals and Jelly fish there

This post has some more pictures from the Cellular Jail. Some of these pictures nearly brought tears to the eyes as the horrors/tortures faced by our freedom fighters in hands of those cruel britishers is simply impossible to fathom.

Wonderful pictures. Iam begining to think that I didnt do full justice to my trip to the islands but, then as you know it was an official trip and heck, there is only that much you can do

Haven't seen such crystal clear waters ever since my Srilanka trip.
Truly the sea walk was a wonderful experience.

We should all plan for a pleasure trip to Andaman,I have been longing to scuba dive.

Thanks, Yes I know that without visiting Ross and Havelock no Andaman trip is complete but, maybe that is good enough reason to plan another trip in future to cover them

On another note, can't help but think of the people who were intensely tortured in those cells. Respect to all the freedom fighters.

I had been to A&N few years back and honestly it was a different experience. The fact that the place belongs to India and yet been so far from the main land actually took a day to sink in.

I stayed at the Pearless resort that time and I found everything about the place just perfect. Not sure how they are doing now though. By the way, did you attended the light & music show at the cellular jail which starts around 6:30 in the evening?

I found that part of my cellular jail visit also interesting. Good narration by Tom Alter along with light effects brought some history to the present day. The tree on the left side at the entrance to the jail garden is touted to be the only living witness to the torture that the British meted out to our freedom fighters. The tree is there since the beginning, I am told.

Anyway a great travelogue. Made some hazy memories fresh

Lovely photographs too.

I too visited Andamans in Feb 2014.
However, I couldnt do any of the boat trips due to the suspension of all boat services for an interim period following a boat tragedy which happened around there.

The visit to the Cellular jail, as you mentioned, definitely had matter to churn your stomach.
Thinking of it, I still get the chills

Though not supported with as good snaps or write up as yours, I also had jotted a travelogue on my Andaman visit
