Pics from Mangalore Trip

Made a small trip to Mangalore earlier this month for a function. Kemmanu/Hoode to be precise. Arranged for seats in a Volvo (Vishal Travels) and set off. The drivers of were very disciplined and drove decently. Once in Mangalore we didn't move around much. Had just been to two beaches and a nearby church. Since we didn't take the car, we arranged for a "Force" tourist vehicle to visit a relative in Belman. On the way back too we arranged for a Volvo (Canara Pinto) bus. But when the time came, we were told that the trip was cancelled because of the rains in Mumbai. We had to wait for a day because the buses had not left Mumbai itself.

The drivers of the bus were very rash, unlike the Vishal Travels drivers. Anyways. we were encountered by a major accident on a bridge before Bhatkal (a place in Karnataka). Two trucks collided with each other just before a bridge. The whole road was blocked and traffic was brought to a halt. Police arrived at the scene and a JCB was brought in. Both trucks were immovable because their steerings were jammed and the gear was stuck. One of the trucks had no load at all, while the other had full load. After a lot of decisions, they decided to push the empty truck down the side. They did this, and cleared traffic by allowing one side each at regular intervals. We were delayed by 1.5 hrs.

Earlier this year, V12 too had been to Mangalore for three weeks. Although he didn't have a car, he HAD to travel to quite a few places by bus and rickshaw.

Below are pics of our trips. All pics are of width 500 pixels.

Give Gordon and V12 some credit guys. These days any >5K camera is capable of taking such photos if the photographer is upto it.

Nice snaps of my neighbourhood. However the writeup could have been longer.

Very first village when you cross the bridge from Mangalore district to Udupi district. That's my native.

Don't think so. I'm not as good as the professionals. But would love to learn more.
