You are indeed lucky to have got clear views during your short sojourn here.

IIRC, the other place to get grand views is from the edge of the hill on which sits the ancient Nanda Devi Temple.

Allow me to share a couple of snaps from yesteryear, october 2011 to be precise.
Thanks for sharing your photos. Would love to see few more of them.
I hope you liked the photos taken Nanda Devi Temple.

brilliant!

I see you covered Benaras as well! Can you give a Google link of your parking spot?
BTW- I am not as brave as you are, when it comes to taking the love of my life (the car) right bang into the middle of the melee of Benaras city.

I prefer to keep my car parked at the more sedate Cantonment area hotels, and take the autorickshaw.

Here is the link:

You will find that it was about a KM away from the Hotel

Thanks! It looks like one of those paid parking lots near Godowlia Chowk. If memory serves me correctly, these lots are often used by the taxi guys, who then hand over their passengers to the boatmen.

Interestingly, enough hotels also tie up with the parking lot owners for long term parking rights.

I personally have never had the courage to go park in one of these. Chiefly because of the "sardines in a tin" way in which vehicles are parked in these lots, and the rather cavalier way in which vehicles are driven out or in.

Super pics lovecats21. You have tempted me to plan something to the hills soon!

Munsiyari is lovely. That 'Elephant' encounter @ Jim Corbett must have been scary though!

Great Prasenjit !!

I can guide you on the Kol-Lko stretch. It should take you around 15-16 hrs max. Follow NH2 till Handia. Get onto Allahabad byepass from Handia & get the toll ticket till Lucknow Exit. There are many exits (Pratapgarh, Lucknow, Kanpur) on this byepass. Just mention Lucknow exit. After the exit, you will have to pass thru Kunda & Unchahar and reach Raebareli. This stretch was a nightmare in March but on my Nov trip I saw that the whole stretch has been repaired. Road surface is super right now. You can stop at Naresh sweet house on the highway in Raebareli for Tea & Peda. Raebareli to Lucknow is again super 4 laned road. Let me know where you are planning to put up in Lucknow, I will let you know the shortest/least congested route to reach there.

Regards,

Pawan

Nainital - Kausani, through Ranikhet tooks us 6 hours and during return through Almora, it took as 4 hours.

The route through Almora was very good and the one through Ranikhet was adventurous.

Re: Kumaon roadtrip from Asansol (WB), via Jim Corbett National Park

Our route plan was to go via Baijnath-Bageshwar-Kapot-Dana-Tejam-Birthi-Munsiyari as it was suggested by Google Maps. The road till Bageshwar was good but as we moved towards Kapot we could understand that this was not the route followed by other local travellers. Actual route was to go back to Almora from Bageshwar then go via Kaluwa Khan.
Google Map showing there exists a road (NH 309A). So, why is it necessary to go back to Almora
The experience was out of the world as the road seemed to touch the sky in some places. If anyone wants to travel through this route it is suggested to travel in a group of atleast two cars and during the day.

I am planning to go there with my Figo Diesel Titanium 2012 model, may be single car with my wife only. Is it too way heroic!
