Exploring Ooty, again

Writing this TL after 6 months of travel

Last time I visited Ooty a couple of years ago (Apr 2012), destinations missed during last visit were covered this time. A couple of changes w.r.t last visit,
1) Last time I was single, and traveled with my parents, and this time travelling with my betterhalf
2) Ride changed, Linea <-- City

I have my winter holidays (from Christmas to New Year) every year and for the last year we (myself and better half) planned to visit Ooty. Though everyone at home were against our plan stating the severe winter and low temperature, we decided to explore Ooty.

Plan
30th Dec'13 : Palladam (hometown) --> Kothagiri --> Kodanad View point --> Sims park --> Boat house --> Night stay at Aravankadu
31st Dec'13 : Aravankadu --> Glenmorgan --> Pykara Falls --> Pykara Lake --> Shooting spot --> Aravankadu
1st Jan'14 : Aravankadu --> Dodebetta --> Botanical Garden --> Palladam

By some xyz theory, there will be a deviation between the plan & actual and the same is applicable for this trip too. On 30th Dec we weren't allowed to visit Kodanad view point as there was some meeting between CM & Ministers at Kodanad estate.
So the actual is,
30th Dec'13 : Palladam (hometown) --> Kothagiri --> Sims park --> Dodebetta --> Boat house --> Night stay at Aravankadu
31st Dec'13 : Aravankadu --> Glenmorgan --> Pykara Falls --> Pykara Lake --> Shooting spot --> Aravankadu
1st Jan'14 : Aravankadu --> Botanical Garden --> Kodanad View Point --> Palladam

Day2

Day 3

Road to Glenmorgan was horrible. and the next worst road was at Dodebetta.

Ride : Fiat Linea
Rider : Self
Distance covered : 510km
FE : 16.4kmpl

Visit the bee museum, you can also buy genuine honey, something that's not very common these days

Re: Exploring Ooty, again

Here is the tentative travel plan for the next trip.

Sep 5 : Start from Chennai to Coimbatore (Evening drive, as usual)
Sep 6 : There are few personal commitments and Marriage reception at Evening
Sep 7 : Start early in the morning to Ooty
<Sight seeing is yet to plan>
Sep 8 : Back to Coimbatore
Sep 9 : Coimbatore to Chennai

One area of interest is AVALANCHE. Need your suggestions to plan accordingly. Also some other places not to miss around avalanche.

I don't know if you have already done this--- Check out the Ooty-Emerald Dam-Avalanche route. Should be at its greenest in September. The dams will probably full to the brim. Possibly a return via the Kundah-Geddhai-Mulli route back to Coimbatore.

How about the road condition of this route? Will be travelling in Nissan Sunny and don't want to scrap her bottom.

I travelled on the Ooty to Emerald Dam route this March. But not beyond that. From there the route continues towards Kundha Dam, Geddhai Dam and onwards to Mulli in Kerala. The route till Emerald Dam looked fine and I am sure it must be the same, till at least Manjoor town. Being peak monsoon season, I am not sure of the roads beyond Manjoor.
