How was the weather? Did it go sub zero in the night?
The weather was very dry and cold. Not as cold as I expected though. It was around 10-12 degrees, maybe a tad lower.

The Utsav is on till March and you can take your car along. The parking area is big enough for at least a hundred cars. You cannot take the car into the white rann without permission or into the utsav grounds though. The white rann is close by and you can walk to the place.

Re: The Rann of Kutch - In a Honda Amaze

Lovely pics and article. Thank you for sharing.

A couple of small questions:
1) So how do these things work? They give you a car, destination and you are free to drive the way you want? Like a long test drive?
2) Is the Rann actually drivable? After seeing the puddles I am confused. Does it have a motorable path or does one just drive on the salt?

Do you know if I go mid-late March will the salt formation still there? I had initially planned to go during February but it somehow never happened.

Also, I have seen pictures of cars on the salt formation.

Would you know if that is something permissible or people just do it?

re; permissions - where does one get it?

I am aware that there are few threads on Kutch. But given that you recently visited the place - I decided to ask you

Thanks.

The salts will still be there. There's a lot of it so don't worry about people walking away with it and it won't disappear (just kidding, no offense).

The utsav however is slated to be held till march but not sure of the exact dates. You can book a tent online. To take your car on the flats you will need permission from the BSF AFAIK.
