Re: Driving across Switzerland in a Mercedes S-Class (W222)

I missed mentioning in the earlier posts that the pics taken are from my iPhone 6 camera & I'm not into professional photography (nor do i have any FB page dedicated for photography )

Also wanted to say Thanks to my wife for being supportive & alloying me to click pics of the car whenever needed for this review.

I was on my honeymoon but still managed to recapture the car moments and prepare a review for TEAM-BHP, hope i managed to do justice for the same.

Should add some more pics in the coming days & share the financials too.

Thanks for the support guys

Wow Karan. Thanks a ton and that was an amazing set of pictures. You surely did enjoy the honeymoon. Once a car nut always a car nut.

Reminds me of my honeymoon where i ensured we drove around in a Ford F150 pickup truck . That was my AMAZING! But you beat me by quiet a bit.

Good choice of both country and cars. Congrats and good luck on your marriage.

Do share the financials as driving across europe has been on my mind for quiet a while.

Also was parking or finding a suitable parking slot easy as i remember most of the cities were against cars as opposed to the american car culture.

Financials;

The cars were rented from Hertz & as I'm a Hertz Gold Plus member i was having an additonal 10% Discount for my booking.

The approximate costing of the cars including Insurance & other taxes was;

Merc S Class @ INR 16,000/Day

Merc E Class @ INR 11,500/Day

Awesome travelogue, bro!

How would you rate this S klasse against your favourite ... the Jaguar XJL ?

Expecting to see a 2015 S-klasse in your stable soon!

Planning is always easy when you know what you want.

In my case i wanted the best car (sedan) in the Hertz stable. So i had booked the Hertz Prestige collection.

When i went to collect the car at Geneva airport i had the option of the Merc E & the BMW 7 series. I was stubborn & wanted the W222 S Class only.

But, thankfully they said i can collect the S class the next day from the Interlaken branch & hence i accepted the E.

Thanks MadMonkey,

The Merc W222 S Class v/s Jaguar XJ L is quite a close call when it comes to the looks but as an overall package the Merc wins this contest any day for me.

Regarding owning this in India, not any immediate plans to be honest. But if il be shopping in this segment then definitely the W222 S will be considered, and also another car which has caught my eye recently is the A8 4.2 TDI V8

Fuel Stop;

IIRC the FE was in the range of aprox 8.5 km/l.

Not bad at all considering i was fooling around in Manual mode and trying different driving modes

PS - Its so much of a satisfying feeling refueling cars all by yourself, love the "self service" culture here in the foreign countries.
Wish we had it in India as well

Wow, this is one travelogue that can also find it's way into the car reviews section!
Looks like it was one great trip.

Wishing you both a happy wedded life.
