re: My Man Cave + A Close Encounter in Wayanad!

Hi Anil,

Awesome!!! As others have pointed out - you are indeed living the dream, the very fact that you have a place adjoining the jungle and play hosts to elephants and leopards if just too good.

Great writeup - you took us along with you on your adventure

re: My Man Cave + A Close Encounter in Wayanad!

Amazing write up and lovely pictures. I love the description of your farm house, do you rent it out for others to stay? I would love to come and stay there.

I went to Nagarhole last year and was very disappointed by the whole thing. They take you in a bus which makes more noise than a portable generator. The only thing i saw was the Indian Spotted Deer. Though i loved the roads leading up to it.

re: My Man Cave + A Close Encounter in Wayanad!

Amazing write up and envious location.

Same question as others and if yes, we all would like to know details.

Thanks.

Also, noted that there are quiet few KA fans on the forum.

I had to ensure that the deer didn't see me, if it did, it'd stop calling and I would have no way to realign my GPS on the cause of the alarm. Worse still, if the deer ran off or stopped calling, the source of threat would also get very suspicious and slink away.

I was very much within the boundaries of the farm and I leaned against the large rock which hid me from the deer which was perhaps 20 meters ahead of me on the other side of the rock. The calls kept coming, the deer was not moving and so it was clear that whatever had spooked it was still there and not really bothered about being out in the open. It was 9am, and the sun was up in the sky and I was starting to feel the heat. This is usually when the carnivore, the source of threat would think about taking refuge in the shade because of the heat.

Seemed like Kenneth Anderson himself. :-)

Anil awesome buddy, first post itself you have got people drooling. Your writing skills are superb, it was like reading a Wilbur Smith novel. You seem to know about wildlife like the back of your hand. Thanks for the share. You are truly blessed to have such an awesome place. Cheers, keep writing and enchanting.

Fantastic write up Anil. You are one among the luckiest person on the planet to live so close to nature.

After reading through your complete experience I understood why you are on the look out for Fridays.

Of course we all are looking for Fridays, but not as special as you! Keep this thread alive and treat us with more stories of this kind

Re: My Man Cave + A Close Encounter in Wayanad!

we see so many movies where the main character makes an "entry".
Here, it felt much bigger, more important; and the actual "entry" itself is a still photo, that too partial. Truly the "ghost who walks".
And I can appreciate the sense of achievement and pride you share in knowing that he set foot in "my piece of land"

Thank you Anil. This is easily the most enviable post in recent times. Sneaking up on a leopard at that distance sounds so thrilling. Please do share more experiences
