Lovely crisp travelogue there with rains and more rains and cars in these rains. You have summarized the entire drive very nicely.
Thanks parag!

This was perhaps the first time that I had given wheels of the Ertiga to be driven by anyone else than me for over 300 kms.
Yeah, I understand. And for people like us its more stressful sitting in the passenger seat than driver seat, right?!

Thank you again Arun for this wonderful little travelogue and for driving with us.

We need to plan another drive for which we need to do our typical Magadi Road-CR-Patna-Nelamangala-Bangalore drive one of the nights during the week.
Sure, we can plan for this one.

Parag was mentioning he needed some additional weight on the front left for stability. Maybe that's why he misguided you on not getting your car. Are you still friends with him ?

Every drive is a new experience , new learning. This time , I liked Parag's idea of warning others behind him about a sudden speedbreaker by switching on the hazard lights. This is something I also have been practicing since then.

Arun, thanks for penning down a wonderful and crisp travelogue . I always wanted to attend the monsoon drive but always miss it due to some sudden unwelcome commitments. Neverthless enjoyed the pics and the write up.
OFF Topic- Since you drove on the NH4 , I will be driving to my hometown in kerala from Pune in the first week of October. Just wanted to ask how are the road conditions? I am planning to hit Bangalore on the first day itself and leisurely cover the 2nd stage the next day towards Palakkad.

Thanks rakesh!

The roads from KA border till Bangalore is awesome. You may need to look out for few speed breakers though. I think parag has updated about the location of the speed breakers in one of his post in a different thread. Roads on the MH side are good but not as the KA stretch. You can cover Pune-Bangalore in 12-13 hours with sufficient breaks.

Re: Chasing the Rains : Group drive from Bangalore to Panchgani (MH)

Nicely summed up Arun I had seen pics randomly on facebook posted by all the HVKians in the group, but this travelogue has summed it up and made clear on what the drive was all about. If not for my earlier commitments I had planned to be part of this drive.

I think I missed meeting the MAN "Kumar" sir and all you guys. Anyway will wait till the next drive.

hehe LOL! If that is the case, for the upcoming HVK AIM 2015 meet, i will make sure Parag occupies the co-driver seat in my Vento .

Jokes apart, it was a worth time spent meeting lot of new friends and BHPians. Looking forward to meet you guys again in the coming events as well.

That was a very well co-ordinated/planned MD. Though missed out this time as had certain commitments at work on the 24th July. Can someone share the route from Panchgani onwards for the ghat road drive.

Re: Chasing the Rains : Group drive from Bangalore to Panchgani (MH)

Very well written report. I liked the mix of events. You had rivers, mountains, Off roading,
Good food and Nice stay. Huge collection of pictures too. Reminded me of the Monsoon drive at Cochin. The group photo could have been closer though.

I blindly followed the convoy and didn't even bother to note the places while we were on the way to ghats. So, I am not having the route details. If you are not getting a response here then send a PM to hvkumar, he will be able to assist you on this.

Our lunch location was near Dhom Dam(ICamp Resort), this you can locate in the google map. And the lake is also around this area only.
