Re: Karnataka: A beautiful, unknown paradise - Bengre Beach, Kemmannu

Awesome photos. Any reliable (need not be star rated) place which you recommend to stay near by? OR do we have to come down here from Udupi for a visit?

If you can deal with a 10-15 minutes long drive from Udupi, you can stay in any of the numerous Hotels in Udupi. The Kodi Bengre itself is very residential, hardly any commercial buildings, let alone resorts and such.

Re: Karnataka: A beautiful, unknown paradise - Bengre Beach, Kemmannu

Is it co-incidence or what? we will be visiting Udupi this month end to attend a family function. Planned for 3 days trip but I was wondering what to do for 3 long days, now, I have a great palace to visit. Definitely this will be in my to-do list. A big thanks to you.

By the way we visit Udupi once in a year or two, but never heard of this place, I have been to places like Maple beach, Kanva Thirtha and Pajaka. Of course our visit was limited for 2 days or so and hence we couldn't explore much due to lack of time. But this time I will make sure this place will be covered.

Great pics, loved each one of them, you have a good hand on photography! What's your camera kit?

Nempuguru - The place very much resembles the coastal villages in Kerala. But really happy to see this village is not yet invaded by plastics and vinyl hoardings.

Those mushrooms talk about the weather conditions there. Nice perspectives pictured.

Thank you Stryker, null.

As I mentioned, Bengre - Kodi Bengre place is sea erosion prone. Already many truck loads of boulder gone into the sea, which were suppose to be the protectors from high tide. That may be the reason even remote chances of starting a resort stopped at planning stage. Other than house boat no other stay options, near by Malpe has sea facing resort though.

Thank you Full_Minchingu (i very much liked your ID) . You can easily plan a trip here during evening time. Udupi surrounding has so many little known beautiful places. For locals they are too common, for us city dwellers serene/beautiful place. Even I realised beauty of those places after shifting to Bangalore.

I have Canon 600 D with 18-135 and Tamron 70-300 VC lenses.

Re: Karnataka: A beautiful, unknown paradise - Bengre Beach, Kemmannu

This place brings back a sense of Deja-Vu. If i am not mistaken, this is the same 'virgin beach' that me and my friends used to visit while we were students at manipal. The students used to call this 'virgin beach', and i never could identify what the real name of the place was. Can someone confirm this?

I remember taking lots and lots of pics at the hanging bridge, and of course the confluence of the river with the arabian sea. Amazing little place, absolutely serene and calm with no tourists whatsoever.

Re: Karnataka: A beautiful, unknown paradise - Bengre Beach, Kemmannu

Amazing place and beautiful photos.

I visited these places in 2011 when I was in Udupi for 5 days. A local guy took us there and we were stunned by the beauty of this place.

We had packed the food and beverages and spent whole day on the beach just staring at the place. There were hardly few people.

Now that you have made this place public, its going to see a lot more activity I believe.

Regards

Indeed gem of a place!

I am equally happy to know that it is still away from the prying eyes of commercialisation. The place has benefit that its close of an already touristy place 'Udupi'. Visiting people would have easy reach for their necessities in Udupi yet enjoy a couple of days in this nearby paradise.

Thanks for posting this travelogue. Liked your photos.

Yes sidharth_j, this is exactly the same virgin beach and group of island which you had been. As I said, this place is one of the favourite place among students of Manipal institutes.

Thank you chandrada. Good to know you had been and spent an entire day here. Worth spending a day in a place like this, isn't it?

These places lack basic amenities badly even though beautiful, having so much potential. Hope the tourist visiting here will maintain serenity and cleanliness of this place without spoiling much.

Thank you funkykar, RedDevil_KP, sinhavivek for your encouraging words.

This is my first attempt penning down a travelogue here in Team-BHP. Overwhelmed with the positive response I received. Reading many such articles, blogs, experiences here from past 8+ years. That gave confidence to write my own experience, even though not good at writing. Kudos to Team-BHP! Happy to be a part of it. Thank you all.

Awesome photos and this place looks pure, unexplored and pristine from all angles. Thanks for sharing.

This could not have come at more appropriate time for me. I will be visiting Udupi during end of this month and will surely add it in my itinerary. One question though - while checking in Google Map, it came up with something called 'Delta Point', situated at the end of the Bengre-Hoode road. Can I take my car upto this point? It appears to be a road from the map.

Yes it is the same. The students from manipal call it Delta Point / Delta Beach

You can take the car till 100m of the point marked in the map.

Manipal has two parallel universes. One where students live, the other where the locals live. They even use different names for same locations. Only locals who work in colleges or interact closely with students happen to be familiar with both universes.

@Nempuguru - a great place that you have unravelled to us. have already cross posted to a lot of my travel bug friends. You should be seeing "good quality" travellers who respect nature and locals in this area soon.
One question - whats your advise for people travelling with children? do they have food options (vegetarian) and activities for children?
