Re: My pick of the Top Beaches in South Goa

Couple of years back, we made a trip to Goa and while returning, our car had a breakdown near to the GOA-KA border. To be precise after the toll booth. We looked for a staying option and found a shack in a nearby beach. We are very tired and go to sleep. When we woke up next day, what we found is breath taking. A silent beach with only a couple of fisherman. What a beautiful place to stay. Calm beach with zero crowd. I think it isPolem beach. Correct me if wrong. Afterwards I tried searching the3 details of shack and didn't get any results. That is the place I wish to stay when I go Goa.

Re: My pick of the Top Beaches in South Goa

During our last leap-year-pilgrimage to Goa in 2012. We were almost sundown driving through Amboli that time and bumped into the first beach we could find directions to and stumbled upon Ashwem Beach on the northernmost part of Goa. Not exactly an eye candy one, but was pretty empty at sundown for a North Goan beach.

I found Palolem to be a wee bit crowded than Colva when I visited last time(2012). Had bookmarked Agonda then, since it shared the same exit off NH17 for Palolem.

Top 5 Cost Effective BEACH Stays in North Goa as well as South Goa

Mod note: Please use Search to find an existing thread, before opening new threads on a topic. Thanks.

I was planning a family(with senior citizen and kids) road trip from Bangalore to Goa.

Itinerary:
a)While going: Bangalore to Jog Falls(night halt) to Goa
b)Returning: Goa to (suggestion required mid-way night halt) to Bangalore
c)Best route in terms of road quality to travel in 3rd week of December 2016?
d)Best cost effective Beach Stays, so children and elderly can walk easily to the beaches(both options for North and South Goa)?

Am attaching Goa beaches link/image just for reference.

Thanks in advance to the SMEs of Goa Route.

Re: My pick of the Top Beaches in South Goa

Thanks MOD/Jaggu for letting me know about the thread.
But, this one only relates to South Goa beaches.
I was trying to find out a comprehensive Goa thread(having both both North and South).

Nevertheless, would search and dig the site little deeper.

Re: My pick of the Top Beaches in South Goa

I'm driving to Goa in June and wanted to see some new places as I have already visited all the popular places multiple times!

I need some advice on the road conditions to Cabo de Rama Fort from Colva. From what I read in an older thread the route to be taken for Cabo de Rama is via "Assolna-Velim-Betul". Has anyone been there recently? How are the roads right now?

Also, are there any eateries that would be open on Agonda / Palolem beach at this time of the year? I'll be staying in Colva but is it safe to drive down to Agonda / Palolem / Cabo de Rama with my family, considering that it might be deserted?

Will really appreciate if someone could address my queries.

The Goa MDR (Major District Road) 49 route goes along the coast from South to North. We took this from Agonda and then a turn off leads towards Cabo De Rama.
From Cabo De Rama, we got back onto MDR 49 and headed to Betul Fort, then continued towards Colva.

This route wasn't deserted anywhere, starts off from Agonda passing via fishing villages, then small towns as you proceed northwards. It is safe from what I know. Plan to reach Cabo De Rama early to beat the sun, say by 9 am when the fort opens.

At Agonda there are many restaurants that are open thru the year, so that shouldn't be a worry as well.

Re: My pick of the Top Beaches in South Goa

We've visited Goa at least 4 times and the only beach we've ever been to in South Goa is Varca.

Never heard of these lovely beaches before.

Gives us many more reasons to visit Goa, again!

Thread rated five stars for covering these picturesque locations and such beautiful photography.

Thank you for sharing the details NPV. That's quite reassuring. I've been to Goa thrice but haven't ventured south of Varca. I'll definitely try to visit Cabo de Rama and Agonda this time and hopefully provide some further updates on the road conditions.

That's an excellent travelogue. I'll make sure I read every bit of it before my trip!

Re: My pick of the Top Beaches in South Goa

Just a few days back I got my December leaves confirmed, and since then been trying to get some info about possible South Goa affordable beaches, (Dec-Jan) period.

Reading the various logs, I understand that South Goa is a better option with families. Help me with suitable budget bracket during that period (lodging, fooding) (29/12 - 03/01); preferably with some contacts. I intend to do another road trip from Pune during this period.

Re: My pick of the Top Beaches in South Goa

Drove down to Goa last weekend from Bangalore. Made sure to visit Cabo de Rama, Agonda and Palolem. I was put up at Colva and the roads to all three places are excellent! Cabo de Rama and Agonda had a deserted look with just a handful of visitors. Palolem was comparatively more crowded. South Goa is so much more serene and beautiful!

Attaching some snaps I took during the trip.

Snapped close to Cabo de Rama (Location)

Agonda Beach was Deserted

However, Palolem had plenty of Tourists

Midway through the boat ride, the guides stop the boat and feed the Kites and Seagulls. Causes quite a frenzy!
