I am planning for Leh next year ( Chennai to Leh) in my Scorpio 2WD
Route via Manali seems to be shorter, any reason why you guys went via Srinagar? Is Manali route motoroable in June ? How do we find that out ?
Yes. There was a reason. There would a gradual ascent in the route via Srinagar, Sonamarg and Leh compared to the steep one via Manali.
This gradual ascent will help us to acclimatize better.
The depleting oxygen levels at such highest may not be comfortable for many individuals.

All the very best for your Trip!

Chennai to Ladakh

We are planning a trip to Ladakh from Chennai in the 1st week of September on a Harley Fatboy and a Thunderbird 500 CC. I was able to find some detailed information here on the things to do within Ladakh itself in a parked post but was unable to find any information on how to prepare for the trip - what to carry, preparing for altitude, dos and dont's etc. Would be grateful if knowledge could be shared by the experience folk here.
If the info is available on any thread that I might have missed, would appreciate it if link is provided.
Thanks in advance.
