A fabulously detailed and illustrated journey to what is an offbeat location. You'll be giving a lot of people here some serious travel goals. It is an expensive place but looks worth every bit of it.

Re: A Roadtrip in Iceland - 66°N

Fantastic review and a beautiful place, rated a well deserved 5 stars. Iceland still runs on renewable energy is what I read somewhere.

Very few places left on this planet, where nature & man lives in harmony & man pays homage to mother nature.

This was amazing. Thank you for sharing the experience. I myself had the opportunity of visiting some of these places a fortnight back, when I was visiting Iceland.

Lovely. How different is it in October? Any luck with Auroras? Was your trip limited only to the Golden Circle?

Wow, great to see a travelogue on Iceland. Lovely place.

We are planning to do a trip as well in summer. Just a small query, will a Schengen visa issued by Iceland(Denmark consulate in India) be good enough for an entry in Paris for 10-12 hrs before entering Iceland?

Yes, it will. In fact, many people plan long stop over itineraries in the hope to get cheaper air fare. Check with VFS Global, while entering your visa form, if you need to mention or call this out.

Re: A Roadtrip in Iceland - 66°N

Unfortunately, I was not able to see the Auroras in Iceland. However, I managed to see them in Norway for two consecutiev days before coming to Iceland. I took the Southern Iceland tour covering Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, Skógafoss Waterfall, Sólheimajökull Glacier, Black Sand Beach besides the Golden Circle.

Whoa, an out of the world experience. I did read a little about this country after they did well in the Euros. But, this thread was amazing. Thanks for sharing.
And I skipped all those names as if they were written in Arabic. Simply could not read them as they should have actually sounded. Need some classes I believe

The place looks totally unreal and the way you have described it is perfect.
Iceland is now on the top of my wishlist.

Haha. This happened to us a lot when we were researching independently, and had to talk about these places to each other. There was no way to avoid it, and so we had to learn the pronunciation of some of these places.

Breathtaking pictures! Iceland is surreal! Thanks for sharing!

One question: Do these rental companies need an international driver's license or will a normal Indian DL work?

The normal Indian DL works, but it must be at least one year old. And if you are renting a 4WD, you need to be 25 or older.
