By 18:00 we decided to get back to our hotel

On the way back we stopped to take a look at the ruins

Since we were planning to come next day for the sunrise, decided to check out the ruins later.

We drove to the hotel and reached by 18:30.

By 18:30 we reached our hotel. Rooms were immediately allotted.

We were welcomed by a flowery towel

After a hot shower we all went out to have some dinner. We were in search of fish and we finally landed here at Hotel Chola by 20:00

After dinner we decided to take a stroll before hitting the bed.

By 21:30, we started our walk back to the hotel. We hit the bed by 22:00 hours and the plan was to start early the next day to see the sun rise at land's end.

Great travelogue with beautiful and crisp pics.

It never occurred to me that Rameshwaram and Dhanushkodi can be covered over a weekend. But now, you have got me thinking.

Good to see the mileage figures of the S-Cross.
Wish you happy mile munching for the future.

As usual, a day long drive and also followed up with lots of sightseeing. Typical Lalu style! Good to see you back in this mode. (I still remember Ooty log)

Nice travelogue as usual. Glad that the SCross has really taken over from where the Civic left, inspite many having apprehensions about its 1.3L engine.

We did an overnighter to Rameshwaram & Dhanushkodi the previous weekend, and I wish your thread log was up before that. Especially the food experiences because that is something we totally messed up in Dhanushkodi and seeing your pics is like rubbing salt in the wound. That fish curry meals (with Porota) picture truly has my mouth watering for a couple of minutes now.

We were stuck with vegetarian options and that also was below average even though we took recommendations from many locals before finalising on one, which they all claimed was one of the best places around.

We covered these places as an overnighter from Bangalore, in motorcycles last weekend. Our triplog here (The Road - A Petrolhead group ride log - Rameswaram & Dhanushkodi).

So yeah - its easily possible in car. Just drive.

Thanks drive2eternity. Those are super highways and you can keep steady safe speeds and reach comfortably.

Regarding lens, it was One plus 5 phone camera with multiple clicks and stitched in Photoshop. I carried my D90 too, but again it has a 18-105 kit lens, modus operandi was the same. Most pictures are from One plus 5.

Thanks ampere. Please don't make me remember Ooty. PPGs are all grown up, and they don't join me much in my drives these days.

You can go all the way till the tip. After 5 decades, the new road is now built till the end. The earlier one was washed away in the cyclone of 1964, and till last few years its was some vans, jeeps etc which took people there. Now you can go all the way there in your cars.

Those days it was crazy cyclone Okhi at the southern tip of India . We took a risk driving down. Thankfully Rameshwaram was not affected.

We really wanted fish, so did a googling and walked around looking at the nearby options. This fellow looked ok and went for the plunge. Food was Ok, but we got our fish .

Awesome thread and this is the second detailed thread on Rameswaram / Dhanushkodi this month on Tbhp and I feel myself insanely lucky to have these come up just when I have planned my trip (Easter weekend) - thanks to @laluks & @CrAzY dRiVeR!!

Trip would be split into a day at Madurai and another at Rameshwaram and this would be mainly a religious trip. Hope I could enjoy the stay, the roads and all those lovely dishes you guys shared
