Browsing for a short drive options near Hyderabad that haven't been frequented, I stumbled upon this location called Koilsagar Dam. Also found a travelogue on the same location on the 'India Drive' website (Link to the travelogue). Thanks to them.

Koilsagar Dam is located at Koilsagar Village of Deverakadra Mandal in Mahabubnagar District. Koilsagar Dam is one of the famous tourist attractions of Mahabubnagar District. This medium reservoir with live water storage capacity of 60 million cubic meters, was constructed on the Peddavagu tributary of Krishna river.

From Hyderabad there are two options of routes that can be taken:

Option 1: The one I took

Hyderabad >> Jadcherla >> Bhuthpur >> Devarkadra >> Koilsagar (156 kms)



This is the one suggested by Google Maps when searched. (Link)


Option 2:

Hyderabad >> Jadcherla >> Mahabubnagar >> Devarkadra >> Koilsagar (156 kms)

Both routes are in similar distances but the problem with Option 1 is from Bhuthpur to the road going to Devarkadra passes by small villages, narrow roads which are sufficient enough only for one vehicle to pass. Be careful here while driving.

When you reach the koilsagar dam area, two water tanks will be visible to the right side of the road. Take the path that is near the Water Tank No. 2 seen in the below image. The road is better and motor-able than the one that goes beside the Water Tank No. 1

Overall, during the 400 kms trip, the car felt good to drive and the brakes responded as required. Got ample opportunities to test the braking today and I am happy with them.

Thanks for a detailed update Anurag.
Not very far off from Koilsagar Lake we have a Fort - Koilkoti Fort.
It needs a little hiking but is a fun place to spend some time over the weekend.

Next was the Koilsagar Dam, this was the third time I was coming to this beautiful place . There is provision to Camp at the banks.

Today, I also went to see Koilsagar lake. It was awesome. We (Baleno group) are planning a camping trip here on Jan 26th.
