Thanks Dr.GB for this, I will be using this as my cheat sheet!

Thank you very much gunin. Much humbled.
Really glad that the Tawang log was of help too. All the efforts are worth if it is useful for someone in their trip planning.

- Thanks for sharing these Vital infos

Birth Certificate for kids. (School IDs not accepted).
- Huh, this is a vital info.

It is important to reach Phuentsholing and Thimphu Immigration offices on a working day to obtain permits. Also check local national holidays before you start.
- People and locals are strictly asking to avoid Monday due to the ,weekend off, rush.

- This post has high Information contect and very vital ones.

Photocopy of immigration permit is to be attached for sim card along with PP photo. Cost of sim- Rs 180/-, comes with talk time of Rs 100. I added on Rs 200/- for 1.8 GB data.
- One would need the data pack for sure.
So if I understand this right, we can keep offline google maps downloaded prior but use the new SIM with data pack for navigation in general.

There will be many vendors who will lend you a walking stick at the base of the trail for Rs 50. Never say no to that piece of wood. The most useful Rs 50 that you would ever spend in your life.
- Thats so true in all for any trekking trips. The confidence breaks like house of card after the first 20-30 mins and we realize the mistake but its mostly late by then.

Moreover, you came all the way till Paro, climbed half way and then decide to return? Think again.
How often will you be coming this way again? Think again.
- Absolutly.

After a while of trek, the trail gives way to steps. This is where you get the first proper view of the Tiger's Nest. Boy, what a view that is!
- Epic Pictures Sir.

Mr D would thump his chest and strongly suggest that you keep a cut off of 1530 hrs (BST) to start your return trek.
- Point Noted Mr D.

I was looking at several Bhutan blogs in TeamBhp and all of them helped a lot. But with this I get a family travelling with kids's perspective and that is quite important for the 2.5 traveller we are.
Thanks Mr D for sharing such a detailed blog. I had been following your North East trip, bugged you over whatsapp and finally did the trip my self last year. This one is going to be no different this year, although I have taken detailed information from the Blog.
Keep exploring and sharing the experiences with us.

Data is required for WhatsApp and Facebook.

Not for gmaps. Navigation doesn't function there properly. I am not sure whether it was the issue with the particular android update that time on my OnePlus 3. But navigation per se, didn't work. It did not give me turn by turn navigation. It showed me the overview of the route to follow when you select "directions" in the options, the gmaps also showed location as a blue dot on the map and the blue dot moved too; but no turn by turn navigation.

All the best for your travel to Bhutan. I'm sure you'll have a great time with the youngster at hand. Bhutan standard circuit is not a difficult one at all. Nothing even in the shades of Tawang. All the best and drive safe.

Thanks a million for your very kind words.

Re: An XUV500 speaks - 9500 km escapade from Kochi to Bhutan

Hello Dhanush,

This is crazy (in a very good way). 25 days on the road is just awesome.

I think it's a perfect guide for anyone visiting Bhutan, so much information. Amazing pictures as well, which is a usual highlight about your travelogues.

Back in the days, on my way to school we could spot vultures sitting on trees. My school was in the outskirts. I was thinking about that scene couple of days back and what coincidence! Now there are only buildings there.

Thank you for 2 reasons:
1. Saving people when you are at work
2. Roaming around when not at work and sharing your stories with us

Cheers!

Thanks a lot voyageur (This time, I was double careful about your spelling ) for your very kind words. Meant a lot to me; and undoubtedly one of the best compliments that came my way.

Wishing you many miles.

Superb write-up Dhanush. This TL has all the information one needs to visit Bhutan. The write up from XUVs point of view is unique & refreshing. The pictures are wonderful as well. 5 Start material.

Mr. D - this is a fantastic travelogue: kind of a virtual tour. Loved the pics, loved the narration. Very inspiring.

If you don't mind, can you please share details about how did you plan the trip especially can you share your excel planning sheet? Thanks a ton.

Turn by turn navigation in Google Maps is not offered as of now for Bhutan.

Anyway, Thanks for putting up such a wonderfully detailed travelogue. Hats off to all members of Team D for completing such a long road trip with flying colors.

Cheers,
