Re: TUV3OO-Ladakh: The Final Frontier

One trip, two mega travelogues & both goes to the Team Bhp home page. Speaks a volume on how epic the trip must have been!

Nothing more to say on the trip, got to see another set of brilliant photographs.

Rated 5*.

Lovely narration, beautiful photographs. My favourite section is when you desaturated it to avoid processing all the colours.

Awesome wrote up Mithun. Thoroughly enjoyed the snaps. Much like the travelogue penned in by cr4nkshaft.
Both of you brought a lot of life through the snaps. Makes me want to go there again.
Rated the well deserved five stars.

Is the entry to Hanle restricted these days?
You didn't plan Hanle and Tso Moriri?

Thank you! We had planned and booked accommodation at both Hanle and Tso Moriri, but we had to cancel both due to some unforeseen professional commitments. We had to cut our trip short by three days.

Congratulations on completing an epic road trip. Great pictures through out which narrates the tale!

Tuffey being a rear wheel drive and Pegasus being a low range 4x4, how did the Tuffey tank perform in the tough terrains? Did you have MLD installed replacing the stock differential as there were reports mentioning huge number of replacements done by M&M under warranty?

Thanks! Can we expect BongDuster to head to Ladakh soon?

Frankly, we did not face very tough terrains. Some stretches on the Manali-Leh highway was in bad shape and we had some bad patches as we approached the mountain passes. The water crossings too were thankfully timid and were easily crossed. The roads we traversed in the Ladakh region were mostly pristine blacktop.

I'm running with the stock differential. Did not opt for MLD as I have till now managed to tackle the wheel spin issue otherwise.

Destiny is a precarious word. It makes you lazy most of the time. Most of us are more comfortable submitting to destiny than chasing it. Heavy lines for what is a 6,000 kilometer trip. More so, as these days, you can reach Leh on whim within a few hours by air and then take the local taxis through pristine tarmac, mostly, to the famed places of interest scattered around the Ladakh region. But here we are, hellbent on driving our own cars across thousands of miles of boring highways and arduous terrains for days without rest, just to satisfy this seemingly unreasonable appetite for road travel. Road trips have been a rave in developed countries for over half a century and Hollywood has done it's part glorifying them in many memorable flicks. But it is only in recent times, that the idea of road trips have gripped the average Indian Joe, like us.
Nice travelogue with excellent photographs. You have very well mentioned that Ladakh is the culmination of every wandering soul's desires. The same was the feeling when I too drove to Ladakh in a Swift Dzire in 2016. Here's a link to that travelogue: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/trave...uti-dzire.html (The mountains are calling & I must go! Tour de Ladakh in a Maruti Dzire)

This travelogue once again revived the old memories. Thanks alot for sharing your experience. Wish you many many more miles of pleasant journeys. Rated 5*s.

Regards.

An amazing travelogue. Enjoyed reading it.

Look, this is how Mahindra & Mahindra Chairman Mr. Anand Mahindra reacted to your thread on twitter.

Great travelogue with very nice photographs. Captures the essence of the trip. You got fabulous weather. I was also in Ladakh around the same time trekking to Stok Kangri. The weather up there was horrendous with serious snow fall. Hope to meet you one of these days.

I am perplexed about this photo . Initially thought it could be a post processing artifact. But the other alias travelog too has an identical picture of the same place, the aspect ratio of hills betwen the two pictures perfectly matching.

What is this, a natural demarkation ? how could that be super straight ?
