Re: Call of Kamakhya: Our emotional 2000 km Delhi-Guwahati Swift run

This is one of the best travelogues I had read in a long time. You must try your hands at writing, in case you are not already doing so.

In fact, I plan to travel from Delhi to Kolkata and back sometime next year and this travelogue will be a great guide for me.

A splendid and special travelogue to bid adieu to your car. Great narration along with some excellent snaps and videos. Driving 2000 kms is nothing short of an adventure. Great Stuff.

What a travelogue thanks for sharing! Rated 5 stars. It's an inspiration for me to sell my cars only to a T-BHP member when the day comes.

For that, there's a dedicated thread (Delhi-Kolkata by Road | NH2 (now called NH19) in full detail), with regular updates of road conditions by members who take that route.

I have got the car registered in Assam, the Swift now runs on Assam plates. So finally the Swift is saved from the stupid & useless NGT ban, which was threatening to turn her into scrap metal after 2 years. Now she can run for many more years, as long as she remains mechanically fit.

Ironically while I was at the DTO (or RTO) to fit the number plates, I spotted a nicely maintained 92 M800 which had come for fitness renewal. The M800 was in good condition, there was no smoke from the tailpipe, it also started in one crank. In short, this M800 would continue to run for many more years. How can one think of scrapping a car like this one, which still has lots of useful life left in it .
