Re: A day trip from Aluva to Marayoor in a KSRTC bus

Good writeup on the trip. There are some iconic Private buses that run on the Kanthallur-Kovilkadavu-Marayoor-Munnar-Ernakulam route.

One such guy is the NMS-Nellikkattil Motors, which departs Vyttila Hub by morning 3:00 AM and goes via south-Aluva-Perumbavoor.
The other iconic guys on the route are PMS, LMS [from south] and MMS [from Vyttila Hub].
There is another historic operator on Aluva-Kanthallur route; Sangamam [3 buses].

3:00am-NMS-KOVILKADAVU (Vyttila, south) via Aluva

Re: A day trip from Aluva to Marayoor in a KSRTC bus

Any idea from where the Munnar Udumalpet buses start in Munnar?

Is it from the place where the KSRTC buses from Aluva/Ernakulam start/terminate?

Also is there a direct Munnar - Coimbatore or Munnar Pollachi bus?

I hate back tracking, hence planning to do an Aluva- Munnar- Udumalpet-Pollachi- Nenmara - Trichur-Aluva trip !

As far as I remember all buses to Udumalpet from Munnar do go from the Town bus stand, where the Aluva-Kanthaloor bus took a 15 minute halt. But not sure if they actually start from there or from the KSTRC depot which comes a km earlier at Moolakadai.

Also some search on internet shows that there is a TNSTC service from Munnar to Coimbatore at around 3:30pm.

It would be better if you could confirm it from KSRTC Munnar enquiry @ 0486-5230201.

In fact the dtpc site mentions about 2 buses to Coimbatore one at 6:30am and another at 3:45pm.

Wonderful write up!

Have thought about doing such a trip often, but never got around to do it.

The seasoned transport / truck drivers are a very patient lot!

Sangamam - that was the same bus we took to go to Kanthalloor in 2011. Thanks for sharing the picture. Brought back lots of memories.
