Wow! This made my day. His determination and courage has proven again that no matter what, the dreams do come true and nothing else matters, only our willpower is what drives things forward.

Re: A cycling journey from Kerala to Khardung La on a single-speed bicycle!

Hats off to Avin.

Here I am, still thinking, which started many years ago, about riding my over a lakh run Bullet all the way to Leh from Bangalore and then comes along a chap who rode on a cycle all the way from Kerala.

Single gear or not, riding that cycle is not a easy task until you get a hang of it. It has a tall seating and tough to get some speed out of it. I can't imagine riding it up a hill with those skinny tires.

There are people doing all kinds of trips to the Himalaya's, thanks to social media and its publicity. This doesn't look anywhere close to such a trip. If the writer hadn't met him in the restaurant, not many would have known about him and his trip.

Is it mentioned how long his whole trip took and if he got back home cycling as well?

Re: A cycling journey from Kerala to Khardung La on a single-speed bicycle!

In an era where a silly joke or an expletive tweet goes insanely viral, this story and each and every word of this man stand head and shoulders above in terms of accomplishment.

It never is about what we have, but always what we do with what we have that can help us be satisfied in the end, one heck of a guy. Here we complain when driving automatic cars for about 3 hours in traffic.

Hoping Mr. Mahindra sees this and gifts him a Khardung La worthy vehicle from his lineup, if any man deserves it, it's this man.

I rarely say this, but it's due to people like him that the art of being human shines through.

Speechless.

~3500 kms on a basic bicycle! This guy truly inspires!

I have a cycle at home that I bought a year ago with great enthusiasm, and is targeting dust now.

Time to get going - thanks Avin

I am sharing this thread with all my friends.

Is it only me, or somebody else also noticed something on the right hand side at 3:28?

This is truly mind blowing and inspirational. I have rode to Leh number of times, so I am aware of mental and physical strength required in this terrain. We privileged always discuss that we need ADV or SUV but this champ done this on single geared bicycle. Kudos to Avin.

Hats off to Avin!! I had goosebumps while watching the video. A lone guy traversing the length of our country with a bare bones cycle without any backup is simply unbelievable, superhuman stuff!

This video brightened my day! In this era when things people do for the reel are going viral, this is something that needs to be given attention. It is a major booster for anyone. Just to think that the accidental at the restaurant didn't happen, we wouldn't have been treated to this Himalayan feat!
