Every year we go for a long tour during Durga Puja holidays as this is the only time. This time also we planned something, however, till the last moment we were not sure that we can travel.

I am not a professional photographer, all the photos were taken from my mobile. I manage to keep the necessary information during the drive. Finally, on 5th October night, we decided that this time we will go for AGRA mainly to see the TAJMAHAL.

From my home to AGRA is about 1100 Km which is almost impossible to complete in one go. So we split in 2 days.

Around 8.30 we started from our home (Chittaranjan, West Bengal) with my Marazzo. At 9.05 we hit the NH-19 which is around 20 KM from my home. Once cross the Dhanbad we saw 6 lane works in progress in full swing and every here and there are diversions. Then I realized that my decision was correct to split the journey.

At 18.50 hours we saw a decent hotel (Hotel Satkar) in Varanasi close to the highway. It’s a new property and they have very nice restaurants in the next building.

7th Oct

In the morning we start from the hotel at 6.55. Around 8.40 we reach to Handia toll plaza, after that all the road till Agra is excellent.

We finished our lunch after Kanpur in Sagar restaurant and Dhaba. Their food is very good.

Around 15.40 hrs we hit the Agra-Lucknow expressway. I was thinking for a long time to drive on this road since it inaugurates. But we were informed in the Toll plaza that speed camera is active and the speed limit is 80 km/hr. I have no idea who decides this rule for such 6 lanes road.

We reached Agra near TDI mall at 16.40 hrs in Hotel MA residency.
In the evening we go outside for shopping and found a nice vegetarian restaurant called “Thaliwala”. The waiter suggested us to take one Shahi Tahli which is enough for 3 persons. And he is right.

8th Oct

We went to Taj Mahal at 5.30 by TOTO. Taj opens at 6.00. Took a guide for the Taj Mahal.

Then decide to go Lucknow to taste NAWAB’s food.

We finished our lunch again at Thaliwala. After that, I refilled full tank and proceed to Lucknow. Soon we hit the Agra Lucknow Expressway.

We reached Lucknow at 5.30 and went to 3 hotels in Aashiyana area and found those hotels are not suitable for family. Then finally my wife suggested me to proceed till Varanasi. When we left Lucknow it was already dark. I know that till Raebareli the road is 4 lanes. My plan was to look for a hotel in Raebareli. Once I entered the city I saw Collection OYO 38179 Raebaerili, which looks decent from outside. I stayed for a night there.

Nice trip you had . How is the road till Benaras? Last time (few years back) the road after Aurangabad was quite congested.

How is the traffic in Lucknow? Last time I was there some years ago, it was a royal mess, dreadful enough for people like me who hate scratches on their cars.

The congestion you will see till Benaras/ Varanasi is nothing in comparison to when you get into Benaras itself.

On the other hand, the road from Aurangabad to Varanasi is good enough; no issues there.

Road condition from WB-JH Border to till Varanasi is not good. Some portions are good but there are many diversions for ongoing 6 lane work and bridges. Maybe by next year this work will complete.

Actually purpose of this travel was to check my Marazzo performance for long driving. And at the end of the travel I am totally confident for long drive.

During Diwali I went to Puri with Marazzo with 7 passengers. I start from my home around 7PM and reach Puri 6AM. After driving full night I was not tried at all and my co-passengers also. Soon I will post the travelogue for this trip also.

Lucknow city traffic is totally mess. I was really worried about the scratch in my new car.

Yea...I totally can remember the "traffic" in Benaras . Second only to Kanpur I guess
